The costume doesn't bother me. The obvious hypocrisy of the situation does.

So he went as an individual, and not a generic person? Sounds more like hero worship to me. I prefer Alfred Morris http://media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com/736x/2e/0d/75/2e0d753b8719563efb431e2a6432783d.jpg View Quote Captain Liberia? |

It was a poke at a particular person, not White people in general. Pretty good make up job really. View Quote That's kind of the point. Those who seem to be offended find it no matter the circumstance. Parody a group? Racists. Parody an individual? Racist. On an unrelated note, Saturday was opening day of now season in Alabama. After my AM hunt, I drove my beat up camp vehicle up for gas. This is a very rural, predominately black area of Alabama. I hadn't really given much thought to the near full coverage of smeared face paint all over my mug. I got some... ...strange looks when I went inside to pay for my gas. |

JJ Watt is generally regarded as the best defensive player in the league, and has a history of playing through anything (even a broken nose as it says in the title.) If there is any meaning behind it, I would guess that it is that of admiration. Lavar Arrington was a pass rusher too. I would imagine he has a high level of respect for JJ Watt (who is not only a phenomenal football player, but from all accounts, one of the most down to earth people in the league). |

Quoted: http://liveblog.wtop.com/Event/WTOPspin_2/131567691 WASHINGTON -- Former Washington Redskin and current NFL Network host LaVar Arrington went on television in his Halloween costume Friday morning, dressed as Houston Texans defensive star J.J. Watt. In addition to a full uniform and helmet, Arrington sported eye black as well as a bloody nose and bandage, as Watt played through a broken nose in a game last September. He also wore face makeup, rendering his skin several shades lighter, albeit not as light as that of Watt, who is Caucasian. You know. I'd get all upset, run to town and burn it down .
BUT! I'm White. It's the weekend. It's cold outside. And things like that don't offend me. So I guess I'll just stay home and laugh about it. |

Remember when the reactionary black community all but banned the movie "Soul Man" because C. Thomas Howell went in black face? They were offended, outraged, even tho the point of the story was to teach the main character about what it's really like to be black. They were coming unglued at a sympathetic message, that's how retarded they fucking were. That was an eye-opener for me, as a young man. I knew that outcry was the demonstration of a culture so self-destructive that they would protest things that were actually beneficial to their cause. I have never seen a reversal of that trend. View Quote The self-appointed leaders of the cause have a vested financial interest in keeping the movement going. They will never, ever acknowledge a time when there is no need for their services. Because then they'd be out of a job. |
