No doubt. But....people do seem to enjoy them.

I wonder if they use traffic directing affiliate programs or in house manpower?

Trick-or-Treating for the season ended at 8:00 tonight.

Without question Zombies were THE thing to go dressed up as.  Many girls, especially the youngest, wore their Princess costumes to night.  A couple of their big sisters went as Zombie Princesses.

One boy dressed up as a toy soldier, Light Green makeup included.

Otherwise THE biggest single costume for boys was Batman.

Those things were awesome

cheap ass plastic masks that would crack if you took them out before halloween and you had to scotch tape them together. Of the little bands of stretchy thread that was pinned way too close to the outside of the mask, that would break before you got done for the night.

Fuck yeah

Pro tip:  Little kids don't care.  They know they are getting to dress up in something similar to their hero, or something they recognize and their peers recognize, and then they get to run around and get candy.

Why adults get worked up enough about it to even mock it, as that site seems to be doing, is beyond me.

I only ever got the mask, or painted with face paint to look like a clown.
I was jealous of all the kids with the cool plastic suits.

eta: I forgot, I had an awesome cape and home made mask one year and was the Lone Ranger.
That year was awesome!

I had one if those plastic Dracula masks one year, but no cape, so my parents got a black trash bag, cut two arm holes and one for my head. That was my costume. A Dracula mask and a garbage bag.

The next year my mom dug up this really queer clown costume and made me wear it, with full face makeup. I was in first grade by this time though, and she made me wear it school.

Keep this in mind next time you are wondering why I am such a bitter and hateful person.

I had the Chewbacca costume.  I remember I set the mask down near the space heater and it melted, I was so mad I tore the rest of the costume to shreds. I was 6 years old.

I wore the poncho style and the inflatable.

Equally as absurd as the whole "face on the plastic smock" thing was the "face on top of your head" thing.  I was always puzzled by costumes where the face, or head of the costume went on top of the child's head, so that the child's entire face would show.  Similar to that is the costume that has the child's head sticking out of the top of the costume.

HOLY SHIT!  GARFIELD HAS A CHILD'S FACE GROWING OUT OF HIS MOTHERFUCKING THROAT!

OH FUCK!  SPONGEBOB HAS A CHILD'S HEAD GROWING OUT OF HIS FONTANELLE, AND DISLOCATED SHOULDERS!

It makes sense if you are Kuato.  I sort of get it for toddlers, since you don't want to really put a bunch of shit over their faces.  Even then, though, you can come up with something a little less-retarded looking.

When I was a kid in the 80s, my mom and older sister were really big on Halloween.  As such, I lucked out on costumes.  The earliest I remember was a bat costume that my mom sewed, herself.  I was also a Bela Lugosi-style vampire, a sweet pirate, a cool devil, the Grim Reaper, Jason Vorhees, and a ninja.  No sweaty plastic smocks for this guy!

The D&D character at the bottom... Warduke?

EDIT- those are for the little kids.

I remember a lot of people making their own, robots, fantasy characters, lots of makeup, fake skin for wounds and blood, lots and lots of blood, zombies..

I didn't like wearing those cheap ass costumes when I was a kid.  Mom figured out really quick we liked making our own costumes and left it at that.  Being a military history buff from six years on meant selecting a costume was easy every year.  BDU cargo pockets fit alot of candy too.

Every year I chose the same costume.

Of course, mine came with a pitchfork.
