"When Nicholas Heyrman heard that a loose dog was acting aggressively in the neighborhood, he rushed his child into the house and got his AR-15 rifle to "defend his property," police say. Heyrman then shot eight rounds at the animal from 32 feet away, missing it each time but hitting a house and a Jeep, according to police. Heyrman, 33, was charged Monday in Brown County Court with first-degree recklessly endangering safety, a felony carrying a penalty of 12 ½ years in prison." |

That's just the kinda go-getter they need to put in a diversion program. Maybe the police academy.

Convenient excuse for getting drunk and scratching a vendetta. He was never aiming at a dog.

8 rounds from 32 feet away and you can't get one hit? He deserves jail.

Not sure how I feel about this one.
But this idiot is definitely not the guy we need displayed as the face of gunowners. |

got his rifle "to defend his property" ?
bullshit! if he was inside he'd be fine, unless he thinks it was Cujo on steroids. what an idiot |

I suppose his misshaped head isn't due to an over abundance of brain matter.

Maybe it's for the best that he put that Jeep out of it's owner's misery.

Just pointing out that if you have the right employer, you can kill a child in a 'shoot a creature which isn't actually that dangerous' situation, and get away with it. (Well, face 'up to' 4 years. Still not a bad deal if you hate kids!) |

This can't be true. There are those in GD that tell me only cops miss at what they aim at. Everyone else is a steely eyed marksman

Can rush his child inside to safety but too stupid to stay inside himself and has to "defend his property" from a dog. He deserves the max penalty.
|
|
[#30]
I assume 12.5 years is the max possible sentence. Doesn't make sense here. Make him pay a fine plus damages, give him a year of probation, and take his gun. He obviously can't handle having it.

First, who misses 8 times from 32 feet with a AR?
Second, sounds like he decided to let a few rounds fly and this is the best story that he could come up with when questioned. |

Based on his mugshot, I'd guess that gentleman has an IQ of at least 12.

[#44]
He needs to make right on every shot damaging property and get hit hard with community service, but 13yrs in jail is a waste of space and $ unless there is some background we are not aware of. From here on anything involving legal matters and a gun should weigh a bit heavier against him. I dare get into whether he has the aptitude to own a gun b/c that is a slippery slop, but he definitely needs a take away lesson. He is likely the product of very little gun experience.....growing up with BB guns, 22s and an assortment of firearms at a very early age certainly helps in knowing your weapon and giving it proper respect and handling.

I'm surprised he has no other records on CCAP. He's a first time offender.

He does deserve to be punished, but prison should be for animals that intend malice. He's just a dumbass with very poor marksmanship and no critical thinking skills. Cheers! -JC |
