for your location, the only thing that I think would work would be a full-on pole barn type thing with solid construction with a highly slanted roof to shed snow.

Either fully enclose it or don't bother, snow blows all over the place.
Have a plan on how you are going to remove the 3 to 4 foot drift that will form in front of it. It must be strong enough, like you could do squats on the roof strong. |

Just wondering, how do you live in AK, and not have shelter for your rigs?
4x4 posts, 2x6 beams, plywood and tin roof with a simple slant will do the basics and give you a little storage space above. My next goal is to put power in the garage. Peronally, and maybe stop the leak in the foundation previous owners caused....
