You might get a hot foot if you do it, but Katrina had a hot hit in 1985. It was the perfect feelgood summertime song that year.

99 luftballons. A surprisingly upbeat song about nuclear holocaust.

When I'm feeling kinda down...( which is most of the time )....this is a great one to listen to.  VERY catchy....
I awake from a long, deep sleep

In a leaky little boat on a wide blue sea

I spy no islane, rock or shore

And the sea, she's a-comin' to me through a hole in the floor
And the tide come in and the tide go out

And the waves they came toss my little boat about

And the sky turn black and the sky turn blue

I got no pail, no sail, no anchor, too

Just a leaky little boat
And as I wake I look around

I have no notion where I'm bound

So many different colored boats I see

Are all leaky, lonely, and driftin'

Just like me
And the tide come in and the tide go out...
I spy no island rock or shore

And the sea keeps a-comin' to me through a hole in the floor

Of my leaky little boat
Alone, adrift together are we

Slowly sinkin' in a deep blue sea

But we smile and we wave

And we say, "I'm afraid...and I love you...and here we go..."

'The year of the cat'? really? depressing as hell.
Happy? try 'Come on Eileen' Dexy's Midnite runners
or 'You're the one that I want' from Grease.

I don't know how you get depressing out of The Year Of The Cat.

On a morning from a Bogart movie
In a country where they turned back time
You go strolling through the crowd like Peter Lorre
Contemplating a crime

She comes out of the sun in a silk dress
Running like a watercolor in the rain
Don't bother asking for explanations
She'll just tell you that she came
In the year of the cat

She doesn't give you time for questions
Ask she locks up your arm in hers
And you follow 'til your sense of direction
Completely disappears
By the blue tiled walls of the market stalls
There's a hidden door she leads you to
These days, she says, I feel my life
Just like a river running through the year of the cat

She looks at you so coolly
And her eyes shine
Like the moon in the sea
She comes in incense and patchouli
So you take her to find what's waiting inside the year of the cat

(perfect musical rendition of passionate sex)

When morning comes and you're still with her
And the bus and the tourists are gone
And you've thrown away your choice and lost your ticket
So you have to stay on
But the drum beat strains of the night remain
In the rhythm of the newborn day
You know sometime you're bound to leave her
But for now you're going to stay in the year of the cat

(saxophone indicates much more humping with a cat meowing in the background)

I can't think of anything depressing in that song. I wish it happened to me.

Personally, I like On The Border the best on that album, but it doesn't really fit the OP's request. Since it's about smuggling arms to a revolution, maybe it is a happy song here.

Maybe some Van Morrison

Susanna Hoffs is cool as shit. I made a comment on her facebook page, and she responded. I actually had a decent discussion with her about her solo career and reunion with the Bangles vs the first few years of them breaking into the biz.

Nile Rodgers has responded a few times as well.

I think the one that was the longest convo was Sass Jordan. I was close to getting her and S.U.N. a gig at festival near here. One of my old band mates does bookings / sound stage etc for his full time job when he isn't playing. Sadly it fell through. I was hoping to meet her, and Brian Tichy.

Tried playing this on keys the other week, totally screwed it up. Used to be one of my faves to play, but haven't played in years since my health forced me to sell all my stuff back in 2000. Just try to hold onto a bass and sometimes a cheap 6 string now. Electronic stuff is just too expensive.

Oh, and sadly, Jed died a while back. He was the mime. HO JO will talk with you, as will Tom Bailey from Thompson Twins. HO JO and Bailey are touring together now. First tour for Bailey in since 2000. Midge Ure ( Ultravox ) is with them, Katrina is as well, as is Chiina Crisis.
