so i went to my local gun store with about $200 spending money in pocket. I was going to grab some ammo probably around $100 worth.
but what caught my eye? a new POF 308 minuteman for $1400,
"holy shit....i want it"
asked the guy to hold it, fell in love with it,
never had a 308 or a long range rifle for that matter. mostly stuck to 5.56
"no, i can't....don't got the funds"
but i weighed it out and id figured i had some stuff i didn't use in the safe so id sell them in favor of this

with taxes and whatnot rifle comes out to be $1500 out the door

so i put a $250 deposit on it
still owe $1250
sold about $600 worth of crap so far. still got some more stuff for sale

so my question should i sell first then buy or buy then sell

either way the stuff im selling im selling for this, i keep very close track of my finances so it will be paid for either way

what says ar15.com?

Wait until you can afford it.  You haven't even mentioned ammo yet.

Yep. I think I'll go home and look at my FAL and think the good times we used to have.

If it's a gun you want, or think you will always want, do it. We live in crazy times where there can be a panic at any second. Look at the 22lr situation.

Maybe I'm missing it in your story but what is the rifle you are contemplating? I mean it might make a difference. But if it a Savage Axis in 308 then I would definitely say go for it!

Obviously you're missing it because it's in the first two lines of his post

This is an interesting read about a POF 308.

Don't know if this case is the exception or the rule.

Ahhh....pof is misspelled....its POF.

No wonder I missed it.

And too many AR type rifles for the same price or less to bother with FAL or HK type 308s.

Buy it!  Things can happen to it while you wait.

Came here to post this. OP of that thread hasn't updated in a while. Even if they did fix it or refund his money; they took their sweet time.

yea ive asked my ffl what happends if i get a dud, they assured me if its not up to par i can take it back to them and they will deal with pof.
the said that was one of the benefits of buying through them as opposed to the ffl down the street

Well, you really shouldn't have bought it if you didn't have the spare cash at the time. But since you already started the process, buy it asap, unless that means your going to put it on a credit card and delay paying it off accruing interest. In that case, sell to get the cash first.

PICS!!!!!
They're blurry as all hell but ill take some more clear ones later on.
The good:

The bad:

They guy told me to contact pof, I usually would have had a problem with this but its a $3 part and it takes 30 seconds to replace.
Mags also don't drop fee on a open bolt but its not really going to be a "battle rifle" for me (more of a dmr) so thats not a huge deal for me and if i find it is? ill sand down the mags a bit so they drop free
