Finished watching a documentary on him. The humor is kind of rinse and repeat but he was still one funny dude.

I was enjoying his movie Critical Condition the other night.   The one where he pretends to be a doctor and saves the hospital during a hurricane.

Pryor and Chevy Chase doing the "Word Association" skit on SNL in the 70's was awesome. Back when SNL was good.

I always remember Pryor's father's advice: "Son, you fuck whores, you don't marry them!"

Shocked the hell out of my step son when he told me he was falling in love with a slut and I told him that. Worked too!

Of course, Stir Crazy.  Also, enjoyed Bustin' Loose.   "Dare to be Rich!"  "You better dare to haul ass when we get you outside."

And even Toy with him and Jackie Gleason.   "U Ass."  "That's U.S."

And for a deep cult classic, he had a minor role in the seminal blacksploitation pimp movie called The Mack.

I liked him.

But my favorite Pryor movie appearance (The Toy) had less to do with him and more to do with HER (Teresa Ganzel aka "Fancy Bates")...

One of the best standup acts ever recorded.  He made you laugh, and he was also very touching.

I freaking love Richard Pryor.

Listen to his comedy though is a bit sad, because you understand how the black male community has been damaged over the generations. He talk about hunting with his dad.  How many black kids today grow up hunting with a dad?  Kind of sad man.

Pryor to his wife: "I'm gonna go out and get me some new pussy!"

Wife: "A couple more inches and you'd get some new pussy."

And just about that time, I big motherfuckin tarantula, this big, crawled up my arm, round my neck, almost shit on myself, went down this arm, under my hand, I tried to mash him.

When I lift my hand up he was gone, thats when I put my hand on my knife. I figured if someone gon get hurt in here, I won't gonna be the last one.

I said Ms Rudolph, please tell me what happened to the tarantula. She said "Ain't none of your goddamned bidness, but if you don't bring me that turkey you WILL SEE HIM AGAIN".

I've often wondered what Blazing Saddles would have been like with him in it. I actually don't think it would have been as good.

Love his stand-up.

"Live on the Sunset Strip"

"Damn Rich, I was gonna eat that monkey, too."

After the burn he turned more lefty, less funny.

Rich was one of a kind and a funny, funny, man.

RIP Richard Pryor

Comic genius.

How many guys have copied his style of comedy? Too many too count. Original, hilarious, and just seemed like a good guy. Had his demons, but what man doesn't?
