Like the title says, I need a new computer. My current Lenovo Thinkpad is several years old, and while it actually works fine, the keyboard doesn't, the battery is shot, and the screen is separated at one hinge completely. I'm very impressed with how this has held up.

I need something mostly for internet surfing, movie streaming, and battery life. I don't play any games or run anything complex. I also don't have much of anything to store on it.

Maybe a chrome book?

Also, where would I find it for the cheapest?

Why not just buy another one?

My T520 is holding up well, to daily, multi-hour use.

How on earth did you make a hinge come loose?

I have absolutely no idea. The first thing to stop working was the keyboard, then the lower case actually cracked around the hinge, and then it separated. I'm amazed the screen still works, because I think the wires running through the hinge may even be severed.

As far as a Mac, too complex and too expensive.

I'd like something for under 450-500.

Which model do you have?

Mine is built like a tank ... and it wasn't $400-$500.

I just got this guy and I'm super happy with it. 9-10hour battery life for the first week or so. Starts up in less than 5 seconds. Only downside is memory, but nothing that a big micro-SD or USB flashdrive can't fix.

For your intended purposes I say Chromebook. I have an ACER I picked up for <$200 to do the exact same things. Battery life is amazing and it does everything well. Zero complaints.

Chromebook would be a great choice if one with do everything you need.

Asus is coming out with a $200 Win8 laptop. It looks great for $200. 2gb ram kinda sucks though.

cheap asus laptop

my sister and aunt have the lenovo g500 and it seems to hold up for them just fine. from the sounds of it a surface would be nice for you too.

i think this one

as for me im rocking the lenovo y500 now known as the y510. little out of your range and more power then you need.

You can easily replace the keyboard on a laptop.
