It's got pretty good detail, but their large plane kits are a bit dated. There are some great update kits for it from Eduard. The Academy 1/32 F/A-18C is a great kit. Lot's of detail and excellent molding. |

I've got an F-18E Super Hornet I need to get started on. I've had the kit for a couple of years now, but just haven't got around to assembling it for a number of reasons. I should get started soon, while it is still warm enough I can crack open the windows to ventilate the fumes of that Testors model glue. That stuff is pretty potent. Hehe.
Oh, I happen to be 37 years old and I frigging love assembling models of military aircraft. If that somehow offends you, then good. I will further offend your delicate sensibilities by telling you to go take a flying fuck. |

I'm 52 and am thinking about building some models lately. You are never too old.
Nice job OP, |

are you 12? I'm 49 years old with 2 kids and I build models. Just what point are you trying to make? Models are becoming an old peoples thing now anyways. How many 12 year olds grow up building plastic models these days? Not many I would think. |

Besides Fine Scale Modeler, What are some other good forum websites? Mainly armor related?

Cool stuff, some of you guys are really talented. Been thinking of getting back into it. WW2 planes are awesome.

Is anyone willing to take on a commission for me? I have an important project. An 80's era USMC A4 Skyhawk that I just don't have the skills to build right. Not looking for museum quality. Just a nice, authentic looking build. I have many photos, and a nice example of what I need. Willing to pay.

I wish l knew how to post a picture. I worked up an A10 that turned out pretty good.
We have a place at the lake of the ozarks, and worthogs are always flying over while we're fishing. Always as a pair. And they almost always are low and close. Really cool. We figure they are from Whiteman. We see B2 's too. Not as often, but still cool. |

I just have to add this dude's (MR Young C. Park) efforts to these threads. Crazy cool!
http://www.sherline.com/jmfPar02.htm INSANE! Also, I forgot where I found these pics (?) but, this is 1/18 scale (I think?...). Very cool too! |

Nice, I miss military modeling, haven't had time in the last decade.
Have a T-65 (or 68) and a Messerschmitt 263 that needs building. |

Nice stuff. I am finishing up a 1/700 Zumwalt. It's a crazy looking ship.

I'm doing a 1/72 P-47D at the moment. 57th FG, 66th FS plane from a news real I saw on the net. (Tamiya kit) I like doing this scale for display space reasons.
Next up will be a P-47N kit bash I think. 413th FG, 1st FS. |
|
I built car models as a kid, and a plane or two. But they always looked like toys. I have seen guys build military models at home that could be in a museum diorama.
How do you get the parts to join without gaps? And do you paint over the colored plastic so that it is not so glossy? I can think of worse things to do than building something detailed. |
