Just thought I'd share this little gem on here, see what kind of a response we get ;)

Basically, a phone hooligan managed to fool a US general McNeely, in charge of delivering military aid to Ukraine, into thinking the hooligan is Ukrainian Minister of Interior Arsen Avakov. He got some details from the general, learned of a secret meeting, specific aid plans, etc.

Considering the same pranker has previously fooled dozens of Russian and Ukrainian politicians (and many of them confirmed this), that major news channels reported the incident, and that nothing outrageous has been uncovered (US apparently ISN'T doing anything particularly underhanded, so that's good), the story is as solid as possible these days. It has also gone completely unreported in UK or US media.

Here is the full story and video:
www.liveleak.com/view?i=697_1413684375

PS. Before I get dogpiled by people accusing me of being a troll or something:
- Yes I work as part of a volunteer group covering the Ukrainian conflict
- No we don't get paid by anyone and are not controlled
- Our goals are to dispel the hateful rhetoric from both sides, and bring a lighter note to the coverage (similar to this: http://mashable.com/2014/10/10/star-wars-candidate-ukraine/#:eyJzIjoiZiIsImkiOiJfajN5c3QwajMxdTdiZ2Z5eSJ9 )
- Ask me anything you want

How about email to [email protected]? Thanks. I'm genuinely interested, you probably found one of the secondary accounts.
Also if you were to find my real identity, you would know I live in the US and have nothing to fear from putin :)

BTW, just to clarify as to why we use secondary accounts: Our little volunteer journalist outfits (Slavyangrad, AntiMaidan, and loosely affiliated freelancers) have a policy of remaining anonymous since a lot of members are in the Ukraine and can get real jail terms for independent reporting.

Those that are abroad, like me, try to stay anonymous also because if our real accounts are located and hacked, this would compromise members in the Ukraine. We had two members so far who have been hacked, one received threats and had to move his family.

Mostly, I just think it's hilarious. I think it's interesting on its own, not because of the relation to the conflict - this post proves nothing about who's right/wrong, nothing huge is revealed, etc., but because it shows that a common man with a little bit of ingenuity can play with the big boys.

Taken from the "About us" section in YouTube

"Our position can best be summed up as:

"The current conflict is orchestrated by the Obama government, using their puppets in EU and Ukraine, for short-term benefit of the US military-industrial complex and financial institutions, and to the long-term detriment of common people in Ukraine, EU, and US".

Although currently we are mostly OK with Russian government actions, we do not work in its interests, but rather those of common people in former Ukraine, Russia, and the rest of the world.

We always need volunteers to help inform people of Ukraine, US, and EU; if you want to help us end civilian deaths and possibly prevent WWIII - you can.

We don't need money (send it Doktor Liza or a similarly solid aid group), but we are terribly short staffed. No skills needed, we have plenty of pressing projects that require no specialist knowledge. Email [email protected] or write in video comments."

Lost me in the second paragraph.
