Worth a watch, but overrated, IMHO. People kept going on and on about how great a movie (or mini-series) it was so I finally devoted 7 hours to watch it and when I was done I was pretty disappointed. It wasn't that it was bad. It was that it was extremely over-hyped. If I had never heard anything about it going in I probably would have liked it more because my expectations wouldn't have been as high. Again: IMHO. View Quote I never watched it becaue I had thought it was a soap opera made for women (the name and the fact it was a mini series). Then I watched it and thought it was awesome. More gritty than I would have guessed. |

I thought it sucked and couldn't make it through the first episode. There. I'll be that guy.

I wish they would remake it in Blue ray. My dvd is gettin' worn out.

I thought the series was epic. You should watch all the film adaptions of the books if you can. As hard as it is to believe the books are actually way better then the movies. Every dog I've had gets named after a Lonesome Dove character.

Ya I think by the end of Streets of Laredo you have two characters that make it semi ok. |

Is there anyone on ARFCOM who would say no?
ETA: Apparently, yes. I should have known better. |

Call is finally able to care about someone other than Gus...Little Blind Teresa. |

By semi okay I mean being kidnapped, raped and walking to the edge of death . |

Loved the series. Books were good too.
The sign they had? With the Latin writing? In the book, at some point, a guy was educated enough to read it and walked off laughing. But nobody else in the book knows what it means. All sorts of little gems like that. |

Great series.
I wasn't crazy about the prequel but I plan on giving it another chance at some point. |

Yes, buts its a sad movie.
The Prequil with Karl Urban and Steve Zahn is pretty good as well. They nail Jones and Duvall's mannerisms perfectly. |
|
If your still sick after watching it and need another movie try "Open Range".

Worth the whole movie just to watch Capt. Call work over the rude Army horse buyer.
(Read my sig line.) |

It's one of those movies that if I ever see it on the cable guide, I immediately change the channel or wait for it to start.

Lori Darling, your as fresh as the morning. I don't know how you stay so fresh out here in these parts.

I was thinking to myself just last night coming back on the horse in the dark......"get ready to jump some gullies boys".
Great Movie OP......Great movie. Hope you're feeling better. |

I remember watching it when it was first aired on network TV. I can't tell you how many times I've seen it since, but it was enough that I pretty much wore out a VHS copy.
