Curious about the wrap. I'm guessing it was warm so you had to get the hide off quickly and the wrap keeps stuff out? Or is there something else to it? Correct. Nights were and days were sorta warm, yes. The cheese cloth was used to keep bugs out after opening him up. We didn't take the hide off. It stayed like that for 3 days before we headed home. Meat was fine and mighty tasty |

Typically there are three types of hunters.. 1. Hunt for a trophy 2. Hunt for food 3. Hunt for food, but wouldn't mind a nice trophy When you said you would kill the 'right one', I would think you were a trophy hunter Most people take pictures of things to remember an experience. They may want to record the success of a good hunt, regardless of whether that success is a nice 10 point or just some freezer meat. If someone sent you a text message the first day of the rifle season with a dead deer, would you say "good job" or "yuck"? View Quote 4th type of hunter: You're in California's desert, in a bad bird year (latest of several straight) and ANY legal bird you get is a trophy, which you promptly eat. |

I like pictures. Good way to preserve memories.
I don't get dead things as decorations but whatever floats your boat. I'm a stainless steel kind of guy |

The same reason you take pictures in general - to remember the event.

I've been around guns my whole life. But whenever I see a hunting picture with the hunter holding up the dead animal...well i don't quite get it. All jokes aside can someone explain this to me? (edit due to poor choice of words) EDIT: i am not offended at all, i am not butthurt, im just trying to understand better, i do own a hunting license. Mainly to use the ranges on state game land. View Quote Have you ever taken a picture of a paper target with a nice group on it? Pretty much the same thing. |

OP wonders why we take pics of our kills. I wonder why those of us who claim to go as far as honoring the "soul" of the animal by praying over it (really?) can't take 30 seconds to cut the dangling tongue out of the mouth of the animal we just "honored" before we start snapping pics. Maybe OP and those with similar sensitivities wouldn't get their panties in such a twist if we all thought about that prior to preserving the memory of a great hunt with pictures. That little bit of prep work really does make a difference in the quality of the pic, not only for our viewing pleasure but for all those that may be a bit squeamish about hunting, as well. CUT OUT THE TONGUE before you take that pic of the next bull, buck, doe, bear, hog, or coyote you shoot. View Quote Lol I swear, you read the wierdest shit on this site. First someone bitching about pics of dead animals and then someone bitching about pics of dead animals with tongues. |
