So I want to get some games on my laptop. Problem is, it has those shitty integrated intel graphics...so it can't handle much.
Basically what I'm asking for is old school games that are still fun. The first one that popped into my head was Doom, but I'd like to have more than just FPS's. So. What do you guys like? |

I would try out the original Fallout pc games. They take some time investment though, they are not for a causal player.

Just got bored with it and let my account go a couple years ago. Didn't like that you had to get 6000 people together to go get the best equipment. |

The original Serious Sam FE & SE are nice. Mainly a FPS but they do secrets/tasks that have to be performed. They are 14 year old games so your graphics should be OK with them. Shoot me your steam name via IM and I'll hook you up.

Age of empires 2, along with the expansion, is still probably my favorite pc game. At least top two with battlefield 2.

I've heard of some of these games. I can't even look most of them up beyond wiki because of all these stupid work filters. I'll have to get on steam when I get home.

View Quote Check out http://www.gog.com/ Pick a genre and you can sort by best selling or highest rated. They have a lot of classic titles there, all DRM free. Watch the sales, and before you buy anything, just check the minimum specs. There's a LOT out there your laptop will run. As for my recommendation? I'm playing a lot of Prison Architect. I got it for $10 in a Humble Bundle (another good site to buy games) This game even runs on my Netbook I'd suggest watching this subreddit also http://www.reddit.com/r/gamedeals And this one is right up your alley: http://www.reddit.com/r/LowEndGaming I'm hopeful that was helpful. |

Diablo II. Seriously, that is a hell of a game and runs just as good on a shitty PC as a great one.

Here are some Steam games that shouldn't be much strain on your integrated graphics card:
Age of Empires II Antichamber Baldur's Gate Enhanced Edition Brutal Doom (requires original Doom) Cave Story Don't Starve Evil Genius Fez Final Fantasy 7 Gratuitous Space Battles Half Life & Addons Half Life 2 & Episodes Minimum Starbound Stronghold System Shock 2 Warhammer 40k: Dawn of War series Wonderful End of the World X-Com: UFO Defense (i.e., the original) And of course there's always old-school console emulators, Starcraft, Command & Conquer games, and if you have a decent CPU, Dwarf Fortress. |

Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic. It's my favorite RPG for PC and super cheap these days. It's a little dated but not nearly as much as some of the other suggestions. It can take a little work to get it to run on Windows vista or newer but it's totally worth it.

Morrowind. You may be able to play Oblivion as well.
I have heard several people rave about Planescape: Torment, but I haven't tried it myself. If you have a joystick, pick up Freespace and Freespace 2. |

Baldur's Gate, and Baldur's Gate 2 if you're into Skyrim.
Rainbow 6 Duke Nukem 3d |
|
Hotline Miami
Fez Mark of the Ninja Go download Steam and look at some of the cheap independent games. Many are low spec requirements and some are awesome 8-bit style with a twist. |
|
Space Quest/Kings Quest/Quest for Glory compilations off Steam/GOG are also a good place to go, if you can get past the very dated graphics. Exceedingly humorous dialogue, especially when you find unique ways to die.

I've bought or downloaded some, but I forgot like an idiot that I can't do a FPS without a proper mouse. Thanks for the suggestions though. Looking forward to playing with my bluetooth mini mouse.
I'm just not a fan of age of empires...BTDT....Heroes of Might and Magic was something I played well past bed time. I figure I'll use some emulator and my USB old school Nintendo remote for Old school games. Somewhere in my moving boxes I have a stick with almost every game worth playing on NES. If I can't find it, I suppose I can download them all again. |
