What happened to the other thread? It has to have been over a million hits. Lol. Your perspective of the incident is hilarious and sad at the same time. http://bulk2.destructoid.com/ul/151386-35719-151386-squeaky0gif-620x.jpg Do you guys want this thread to be about pissy bickering, or actually about the situation in Ferguson? Kind of sad I didn't get in on page 556 :(
Oh well, I'm not an expert on unrest or anything, but as a St. Louisan, it looks to me like the "movement" is now about so many things that it's become incoherent, which always happens to left-wing movements. This weekend's protests had lots of professional protesters from throughout the country and a bevy of socialist, communist, Palestinian, and labor union groups glomming on. For those who wondered whether the protests were over, they're not. St. Louis city cop shot an 18-year-old last week who was wearing an ankle bracelet and was supposed to be under house arrest on a gun charge. He shot three times at the cop and only stopped because his gun jammed, but the professional protesters immediately tried to add him to the Michael Brown situation. The practical upshot of that is the protests moved to south city, where they started pissing off and inconveniencing their liberal support base, which was entertaining to watch. Fair number of arrests, and a few folks got pepper sprayed. There was supposed to be a LOT of protest activity today. However, it's been raining hard all day and we have the potential for strong to severe storms later, so it's a bit of a wash. Hopefully the outside agitators go home and the rest of it dies down. Me? I'm just waiting for Darren Wilson to be no-billed and the week or so of riots that will ensue. Then the damn thing will be over. |

Your choice, I don't care. Neither. I would prefer a thread that just had post after fucking post of idiots typing "in" instead of subscription, because they are obsessed with a little number counter next to their name. Oh shit....never mind. I got exactly what I wanted. |

I had a work crew in St Louis all last week. I never heard if they had any first-hand experience with the "demonstrations". I'll have to ask when I see them next.

Stay safe over there man, and thanks for the update. Any word from the GJ on Wilson yet? View Quote I'm a chick, but thanks. Grand jury result is estimated to be in late October or early November. I expect November--they wouldn't want rioting at the same time as Halloween. Apparently the county attorney, Bob McCulloch, put the whole thing on the grand jury--they're not simply supposed to decide whether or not to indict, but what charges to bring. Apparently, that's super complicated for a grand jury, and increases the chance of a no-bill. |

Heres a link to the story of the guy who got shot last week for those like myself that haven't been paying attention lately. “He was unarmed,” said Teyonna Myers, 23, of Florissant. She said she was a cousin. “He had a sandwich in his hand, and they thought it was a gun. It’s like Michael Brown all over again.” Except he did... and shot at a cop |

Makes sense though... that way they [the protestors] cannot scream favoritism if the jury does indict and the DA only goes for a reckless homicide charge. |

He's a democrat, which one would think was a bad sign, but his father was a cop who was murdered by an African-American when McCulloch was a kid--that's why the protesters were trying so hard to get him removed from the case: he's seen as pro-cop. He also won his primary and is running unopposed in the general, so they can't bring political pressure to bear on him. He's the honey badger of county attorneys. If the grand jury doesn't indict, neither will he--it'll be over, except for the civil suits. |
