Not sure I was fully charged about my classes building a dragon, but now that we've gotten started, I think this is going to be pretty cool......and HUGE!!
It will be a dragon skeleton with possible armor scales and wings. I wanted the Red Baron's plane, but it came in second in the voting.  Next year
We are doing this in three parts, neck, back, and tail. We are working to make sure we can hand this thing with out help, and do it in sections. That should help keep contact with the custodian at a minimum. 
Here is the very first part we have cut out. This will be the neck section. Its 8' long. We have the neck rib stencils cut out, and should have some ribs for the neck in the next few days.

The beams have been deemed worthy.... we just aren't allowed to use the lift to get it up to the installed cables. It's still sitting in the library. We were told we could use block and tackle, as soon as the custodian put one together. Guess how that's going......

Attention, Class.
Task: This week's special project is: Build a block and tackle, using all native materials. Condition: Blocks must be from native tree, grease from native bison, rope is yucca fiber and whatever else we can find. Plastic is not native to anywhere. Standard: Must be able to lift 250lb 'sanitation engineer' safely off the ground. Landing is optional. I'm expecting to see something like this posted in shop class, in the next two weeks. Be about it!
