Two round things on the front, hard to see in this picture.

I shot this one while it was running so it's blurry, but you can see the two round things on the front of it.

What's the approximate size?

I need to know so I can figure out how much napalm to drop on it.

Hobo spider.

Because of the diffused markings, it appears to be a hobo. The eye pattern is also important to observe. If it forms a "smiley" face pattern, then you know it is a hobo. Also, if you see those large palps that are often referred to as "punching gloves" then it means it is a male spider. KILL THE FEMALES at all cost since they carry the eggs.

It's a wolf spider or one of its kin.

About as nondeadly a spider as you will encounter.

But it's very good at eliciting squeals from people who freak out at spiders.

Toss it on somebody and film the results; you'll see.

Smashy, aren't you from Canada originally?  If so this spider will elicit lots of 'sorry' 'sorry'  'oops, sorry' from  your buds.

Carry on if I'm mistaken .

Male.

ETA: "Round things" are pedipalps, which the male uses to deposit sperm.

Never been to Canada in my life.

Actually, my plane did stop there once on the way to someplace interesting.

I would assume it's a hobo and respond accordingly.

As others have said, Hobo Spider.

It has necrotic venom that will give you horrific lesions. Not as bad as the brown recluse, but still nasty.

Probably a Hobo spider based on your pics.

A wolf spider is nothing to mess with either. While not usually deadly but the bite can be extremely painful for adults. In my experience they are also very fearless. Sure they may run a short distance from you but they can be very aggressive and run at you as well!

Fire is the only way to be sure!
