We recently had a thread about Armored Car Guys - http://www.ar15.com/forums/t_1_5/1670649_Armored_truck_personnel.html

This is a damn good reason to stay away from these people working with or that carry large sums of money.

Prayers to this guys Family and their loss,

ACs in CA used to have three man crews.  A driver, the armed courier and his escort.  All three carried guns.  Then the AC companies got cheap and cut out the escort.  Back in the '90s we were having AC guards bumped off left and right.  The worse was when one guard (a felon) killed his coworker for the loot. He was caught.

Prayers out.  That really seems like a job that would attract lots of trouble.

Years ago, I worked for an ATM company. We filled the machines with money and collected the deposits. We would also fix paper jams and other faults that didn't require an actual ATM repairman. All our two person teams were armed. If an ATM needed repair, we would either meet with a Diebold tech at the ATM or remove the money and return it when the repair was complete. The Diebold techs were unarmed and never had access to any money in the machines.

This guy was killed for money that wasn't ever available to him or the murderer.

That's not an armored van, that's the van that goes around fixing ATM's.

Still sad though.

I know the guy shot and killed.

He was a good friend and coworker. He was the type of guy you rarely saw in a bad mood. This was in an FSA infested neighborhood.

I'm not taking this well.

Also, qfast817, you think you could delete your post content? No need to put more folks at risk.

Situational awareness, don't go into bad areas, etc., etc. - right up to the point your job dictates you do it....

I would no more go into that neighborhood or many others without all my guards up and eyes scanning.  Concentrate on a task with the perception of vermin that $$ are at hand and you are a target.

We make considerably more than that but not enough for the risk we have to deal with like this.

I located utilities for three years in that hood. Nothing like a nice water main break at 2AM on a Saturday in the summer

Thank you. As hard as it's been on me I can't begin to imagine his surviving family.

One of my team's guys was supposed to be at that site as well but got there after everything went down.

I just wish to God I had been the one with the call instead of the the tech on my team that had it. I might have been able to do something and things might have turned out a lot differently.

Local news is reporting this was an ambush. Not surprised as the original service call was for vandalism to the ATM, likely to lure a tech to the site.

I used to do security alarm work and in certain "hoods" i would catch hell or they would screw with the truck.
I never stayed around after 2:30 if i could help it. I also had a 45, not that i was offering that info when i worked for them.

One Arrested In Roselawn ATM Homicide

Authorities arrested 36-year-old Yonah Israel Wednesday for the shooting death of Daniel Muscarella.

"(He had) no assistance, at this point we believe Israel is solely responsible fore the death of Mr. Muscarella," said Cincinnati Police Captain Elliot Issac.

Muscarella was working on the machine in the 7100 block of Reading Road just after 1:10 p.m. when he was shot multiple times. Muscarella was pronounced dead at the scene.

Issac said a verbal altercation between Muscarella and Israel took place before the shooting. He added Israel has an extensive criminal record reflecting drug use and violence.

By the way, if you read any reports about police brass or Cincinnati politicians thanking the community for help in apprehending Israel (like the article I linked above), take it for a big grain of salt.

I have it from a very reliable source who was on scene immediately after that there were a number of the locals standing against the police tape taunting the police saying things like, "That should have been you pigs."

That's the type of neighborhood this is.
