Looking at grabbing some emergency food prep stuff.

I am ok with buying some of the pre packaged stuff just not sure what brands or entrees etc are palatable.

I see that Costco has a ton of stuff.

Pretty sure I have seen things at Wal-Mart as well.

Does anyone have any suggestions which route to go?

Interested in regular store bought stuff that makes decent long term prep items as well.

Doubt I would take advice from a proud racist such as yourself anyway.

Anyone that has something to contribute want to add anything?

Will do!

No other "preppers" around that don't hate me and have suggestions?

Not a popular subject around here?

Maybe the Outdoor section would be a more appropriate place to get the info you seek

Do you have an LDS cannery near you?

Might want to wander over to the Survival Forum in Outdoors.

Just buy more of what you eat normally.  If you normally eat fresh vegetables and meat, just buy whatever LTS food is least expensive.  It all sucks so you'll probably end up throwing it away in 5 years anyways.

Came here to post this. I started canning vension, then I had all this meat but not as much to go with it.

I got some canned potatoes. Venison goes good with potatoes, right? I started getting other regular food.

Now I only need to get food on sale and fresh food. I had to rearrange my preps a few weeks ago and realized I was not rotating enough so I got a stamp gun to put expiration dates where I can easily see them.

I never run out of coffee or soap! Or food! I don't have to eat canned stuff all the time, Once or twice a week will enable me to rotate it enough.

Any of it is better than mountain house.

This I like.

I will probably just start out this way.

Extra cans of Tuna when they are on sale, beans, rice etc.

I like the sticker gun for helping rotate stock!

I plan on a little fishing in AK when I go home this summer so maybe I will can it up too!! (not that it ever lasts more than a couple weeks..)

If that's in your food prep plans you may want to add antidepressants to the list.

I got some of the wise food.  Its not bad, I take it hunting and we keep some at the cabin.

I got my wife into it buy getting a sample pack and told her to stay out of the kitchen because I'm making supper.  I served it to her in a bowl and she was pleasantly surprised.

I would have to eat something after any length of time on that. Probably my own gun.

Hey thats not bad at all!

Very happy to help - I hope you find what you are looking for

My wife likes to grind flour from whole berries for baking. On a cost per pound basis, it's actually cheaper for us to get wheat berries shipped directly from the Mormons than it is to buy them locally ... go figure

Another big plus is that many of their wares have a 30+ year shelf life. The bread my wife bakes using LDS red and winter wheat berries is incredible. A few years ago I bought my wife an impulse sealer from them, and I had a couple of questions about running the unit after I bought it. The people who helped me via phone and e-mail were the most helpful and courteous folks I've ever worked with. They were genuinely interested in helping me, and that kind of sincerity is tough to find.

Guess I shouldn't have been surprised though. While I'm not a Mormon myself, several of my friends are - and they are cut from the same cloth as the nice people who helped me.

ETA: I guess my point is that if you end up buying from them you won't be sorry.
