Well, first let me start off by stating the obvious. I signed up for an account here a while ago and have not posted much.
The purpose of my post here is to gauge interest in my quick detach mount design. Is this something that a modern sporting rifle owner would be interested in? I have some pictures and videos of my working prototype. My favorite video so far is the pull-up test. If there are any pictures or videos that you would like to see, please ask and I will try to accommodate. If it doesn't include JB Weld, I'm not interested.
You might want to patent it. I could see a use for it in .mil/LE |

Slam that rifle with a 40g shock, or to simplify things, fall on it to test the security.
Anyway, maybe you're onto something. I can think of one application. Too late to get a patent, and in about two weeks there will be a Chinese import copy for sale. |

You should use one of those to secure your stair rails.
Eta: just watched third video. "I don't have an atv but what I'd do have is this block of wood" made me lol for some reason. |

I could see LEO's mounting a few in their trunks to keep their ARs from bouncing around. Or maybe they have some other way of doing that. Haven't stuck my nose in a patrol car for a long time.

I'd have a QD lever attached to the Picatinny so the whole thing can come off the rifle.

Nothing I have has rails. View Quote Good point. Of my three ARs, only one has rails. Something that is common to ALL ARs is what you need. One thing that is common is the mag well, but other companies aready sell (and patented, I presume) carriers and mounts that use the mag well. |

I can see a use for this mount in my life. Very curious about how it works.

In it's current configuration it does not work vertically. I need to design in some end stops, or encapsulate the female mount. View Quote View All Quotes View All Quotes Quoted:

Very interesting. What about with the gun vertical? In it's current configuration it does not work vertically. I need to design in some end stops, or encapsulate the female mount. We still talking gun mounty thingamajig here? |

Nothing I have has rails. View Quote I would offer a universal mount that could be used to attach to firearms with out rails. I am picturing basically a flat plate with a series of slots and holes that could be used to attach to a wood stock with some wood screws, or the end user could drill and tap holes in their existing metal forends. I have not really though about the standard plastic AR hand guards yet, but seeing as how there are picatinny rails that can be attached to them, I could attach this in the same manner. |

View Quote Using a QD lever for this system is kind of counterintuitive, as this system is QD without the QD lever. This system is QD with no moving parts. However, that is something worth considering. I feel like I need an XZIBIT picture saying I put a QD mount on your QD mount though. |

The cam pushes the male mount into the polymer, and the polymer pushes back on the male mount, thus locking the male and female halves of the mount together. |

Any ETA on completion? I would buy two if the price was reasonable and if it wouldn't fall out when vertical.

Cool beans, best of luck to ya brother Do you have away to mount it in vehicles/hmmvs, helos, bradleys, planes etc.? Outside of trucks/vehicles I cant seen much of a civi application. For .mil/LE, plenty. I assume you could mount it to other weapons? 50BMG, 249s, 240Bs, MK19s, pistols, shotguns etc? If not maybe look into it, or also tweak it a bit so you can use it for accessories that can be mounted to the weapon or near them etc. goodluck |

I suppose I could incorporate a picatinny rail "slot" on the bottom of the female mount as well. |

Definitely needs vertical mount capabilities for places like, oh say, a vehicle.

I do have some ideas for enclosing the female mount, it is just a matter of cost vs how nice it will look. In reality I could use a "C" channel that attaches to the bottom of the female mount. Ideally the female mount would be 1-piece, but a 2-piece design would work just as well, considering that the "C" channel would be sandwiched between the female mount, and whatever the female mount is attached to. Additionally that would give the end user the option to enclose the mount. If this is being used to mount the firearm to the wall of your "vault room" it does not need to be enclosed. |
