And then a team, most likely Cleveland, will step up and beat the Tigers again. Scherzer is gone, Cabrera a year older.....c'mon man.

Fucking FINALLY.

I thought this travesty was never going to end.

Hey...

Detroit didn't make it to the ALCS.

The team that beat Detroit got swept by the Kansas City Royals.

The Kansas City Royals are the American League Champions.

Detroit, Michigan is still the shittiest city in the United States of America and the punchline of thousands of jokes every day.

Maybe, but they dominated the Royals all season, won the AL Central division, have won 2 pennants and 4 division titles in the last 8 years and aren't losing half their core to free agency so they'll get another chance next year. This was KC's shot and they blew it. Shields, Butler, Aoki and Gutherie are gone and KC is going back to third place at best.

Thank you for giving me the opportunity while you're down.

Scherzer wants to stay in Detroit.So..we'll see.

Pfft! I bet KC is near the bottom of the AL Central like almost every year.

Big fucking money...

Giants- $172,793,112
Royals- $96,157,514
Difference- 76,635,598

$76.6M is a hell of a lot of money. Like enough money to buy a couple fighters for the USAF. Or 10 M1A2 Tanks. Or almost 114,000 M4A1 Carbines.

That makes a difference.

I find that the best way to deal with these kinds of situations is to hold on to your disappointment and heartbreak until it ferments into a warm, pure venom, and then release it little by little, but holding on to enough to let the venom ferment into bile.

it's homegrown over many seasons that makes the big difference... most the stars on the giants have come up in their minor league (with a few key additions)... KC has a good nucleus, if they keep it going they could be in the same situation in a few seasons. but money doesn't buy championships. look at the dodgers and yankees, even when the yankees dynasty was in tact most the players were brought up in the farm system... money helps but it doesn't guarentee a win at all... and there's no D in Bumgarner..

If the Giants are "big money" (they are actually a mid-salary team) then what do you call the Yankees, Red Sox and Dodgers payrolls?

Giants are 7th out of 30 and the Royals are 19th.

The Royals would have to add 40 million to crack the top 10.

Big money doesn't win (Dodgers), but it helps.

You can't deny that the Giants are a big money team. They are just barely under the luxury tax.

That said, the Giants CAN be a big money team because they have a huge, loyal fan base (of communists, deviated preverts and terrorist sympathizers) who support the team. They've had 3 million + fans attend games each of the last 5 years and have been in the top 5 of NL attendance for 13 of the last 15 seasons.

The Giants are third behind the Dodgers and the Yankees.

Detroit is #6 at $171,590,085.

The last time a sub-$125M team won it was 2003.

That was kind of my point..it's not like the Giants bought the team and signed some big name players to get to this point. I think the biggest signing from the last few years is probably Hunter Pence..

They win Championships through phenomenal pitching and brilliant managing.

I'm used to being left wanting.

Yeah it doesn't get much harder to be a fan if you're a Royals-Chiefs-Mizzou fan. Enough heartbreak between those 3 teams to last a hundred lifetimes.
Y'all sound like those ShitCago Fans.......

That was kind of my point..it's not like the Giants bought the team and signed some big name players to get to this point. I think the biggest signing from the last few years is probably Hunter Pence..

They win Championships through phenomenal pitching and brilliant managing.

Big money....

You're right about one thing.. Bumgarner is money.

Big fucking money...

Giants- $172,793,112

Royals- $96,157,514

Difference- 76,635,598

$76.6M is a hell of a lot of money. Like enough money to buy a couple fighters for the USAF. Or 10 M1A2 Tanks. Or almost 114,000 M4A1 Carbines.

That makes a difference.

If the Giants are "big money" (they are actually a mid-salary team) then what do you call the Yankees, Red Sox and Dodgers payrolls?

That was not your point. You didn't say a word about their player development or great managing. That post clearly implied that the Giants bought the World Series, which is total bullshit.

Cry me a river. 48 years a Giants fan here. My first wife's family had season tickets right at 3rd base at Candlestick. I was a season ticket holder at PacBell/SBC/AT&T Park and there's a brick there with my name on it to prove it. I've seen decades of hope and suffering and bad managing (Dusty Baker). You OTOH are wallowing in hate and self-pity. Just can't give credit for a job well done. Apparently it is beyond your mentality.

Good year for KC. I guess now I can look forward to see how the Chiefs can manage to blow another first round playoff game.

Damn good year for the Royals. They should be very proud and I would have congratulated them if they won. I couldn't find anything to dislike about them, except for the blue hats.

Reminds me of the hated Dodgers for those that don't get it.

This is probably the post of the thread.

I wonder if we can get Motown a job wearing the Crazy Crab suit?

You know, that would make an even more obscure avatar than the Croix de Candlestick wouldn't it.

Ha Ha, I was at the game where he got booed off the field. Giants fans didn't do mascots back then. And we sure a hell don't do the wave.

I was overseas that summer, following in the Stars and Stripes sport pages.  I remember telling someone someday that I was rooting for them even when they lost 90 games.  I'm sure I did that in 1989, but it is still true today.

If you can't use "June Swoon" properly in a sentence, you aren't a real Giants fan

I really really really want to hate San Fran. But I just can't.

They win the right way. They're the San Antonio Spurs of Baseball. They dont have mega stars on their teams, they are NOT glamorous, they have no "wow factor". They just play like a TEAM and win.

This is the concept I wish my Tigers would goto. I've become quiet disillusioned with the "we gotta have the best starting pitcher!" and "we gotta have the best hitter!". I would trade every one of the God damned individual awards the Tigers players have earned over the past 6 years, 3 MVPs and 2 Cy Youngs for 1 fucking World Series ring. That's fucking right, I'd trade all 5 of those gay individual trophies that do a God damned thing for the fans, for just 1 damn World Series ring.

It's a bad concept as we've learned that great starting pitching means absolutely jack shit if the bullpen loses the game anyway, or that you only score a run every 4 or 5 innings because the bottom half of your line is complete GARBAGE. I'd be all for sending a couple of super stars packing to other teams, if we can get a well rounded lineup and a overall good pitching staff.
