2000m. Went to Ft. Drum to fire the XM107 at a dog and pony show showing the. 50 cal rifles capabilities.
Up to then I had fired the 82a1 out to 1800m pretty regularly at a range we used near Murfreesboro. |
I hit a man size target at 2000 meters, one shot, with a .50cal and a 24x scope...
..... of course it was in the game Arma III.... |
I would love their chance to go longer but 300yds is as far as I have shot my LR308.
I've shot at 1000. I've had lucky days, but not real good at it. Definitely magnifies any bad habits. I need more practice.

Just joined a range with a 300yrd target. Hitting it with my .243 is pretty easy. My .17hmr? Lots of holdover.

Barret M82A1 in .416
4X14 Leupold with BORS 1271 yards to a 1 foot wide by 4 foot tall steel blade from a bull dozer. |
300 yards is the longest I can shoot, and that is backed up to the neighbor's fence. I hit an 8" bull three times with a 30-30 once just to see if I could.
300 meters with a rifle. With a M2 or M60 I think 600-800 meters, and about 1500-1800 meters with 120MM.
My longest MEASURED, WITNESSED shots were to repeatedly bang a 14" gong at 700 yards at the Angeles Shooting Range once I dialed in my AR-50.
I have shot at and hit things at distances I believe to be significantly farther, but I had no way to accurately measure the distance. |
1820 with an AR50 on man sized rocks.
Reliable hits on torso sized rocks with my .300WM at 1680. |
NRA High Power @ 600 yard stage.
Service Rifle, open sites prone, Hornady 75 grain OTM. |
Personally, 1000 yards at Viale Range, Camp Perry, Ohio.
Professionally, 3750 meters... with a TOW missile. I've done other (farther) ordnance missions, but those are with other people doing the work. |
800 meters, at night, with an M-16A2 and an A/N-PVS-4 on a STX lane in Grafenwohr, Germany.
600 yds w/AR15, a few thousand yards with a M60A3 main gun.
I voted 600 ETA; Consistent hits on an abandoned car at over 500 yds with a .44mag Redhawk, took a few shots to dial it in but once I did it was hit after hit. |
2500m with an M2 50 caliber.
Otherwise maybe 600 and didn't think I would hit it |
300 yards for me. I had to drive a fair amount even to get to a range that had that length. I'm not aware of any ranges with greater than that that are within an hour and a half of me.
Depends on how you define "your" shot...
217 yards head shot on a groundhog w/a 30.30 and a 2.5X scope--my personal favorite; 1000 yards all day w/my buddies .50; 37000 feet w/a smart bomb; and, about 200 miles(?) w/a Tomahawk..... of course, the last two were "proxy" shots, LMAO! Radios and lasers are POWERFUL tools.... |
225 yards at a trophy whitetail and I missed
400 yards at paper and I missed several times. My guns suck |
1025 is my longest hit with my 260. I can get to a range that goes to a mile, at that range it takes a little bit of luck too, but I'd like to give it a try.
600 yards this weekend with my 700 XCR Tac LR. 10" steel plate.
Looking to go out further soon as I can find a place, 600 was easy. |
I think it was 1860 or 1880 meters with a TRG42
I'll have to ask my brother |
1000m with an M60. One round hit the target. I was trying for a short burst of two rounds as the target, a jeep and soldier shiloutte, and got off one round.
800m with a U.S. Navy .308 M1 Garand. |
I shot one of the 4x4 posts out from under a used-up target with a 105mm HEAT training round. LRF showed 1600 meters.
About 4300 meters, of course that was in an M60A1 at Ft. Irwin in 1978...

what round and velocity with your .260? I just started load development and I voted 1000 yds, .308 175SMK 2450FPS http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b96/leondana/36FFF8DC-BD5E-405A-8214-844B1E43968A_zpsft7axetn.jpg View Quote View All Quotes View All Quotes Quoted:

1600 m with my Grendel and .260. View Quote 'Ya gotta love those 6.5 bore rifles. I know I am a devoted fan of 'em. Once I started working/playing with them, there was no comparison to my 30 cal rifles. At any distance over 400 yards there is no way that a 7.62x51 can keep up with a 260 Remington. A 7.62x51 goes transonic between 800-1200 yards/meters. My 260 Remington shooting a 142 Sierra match king at a modest 2813 FPS still has 1033 FPS velocity at 1700 yards. Of course, if you hot load either cartridge, you will get more distance, but I'm just not sure how much further than 1700 yards I would be shooting. |

When I shot at Sweden from Denmark, it was pretty far away. At least a couple of miles.
