1st Time I ever shot 800 yards. My third shot was about 5 inches above the paper target so it only show the two.
You can see the pasties on the lower part of the target, and the higher holes were 1 click up more than the covered holes.

My new rifle, then.700 XCR .308

2000m. Went to Ft.  Drum to fire the XM107 at a dog and pony show showing the. 50 cal rifles capabilities.
Up to then I had fired the 82a1 out to 1800m pretty regularly at a range we used near Murfreesboro.

I've shot at 1000. I've had lucky days, but not real good at it. Definitely magnifies any bad habits. I need more practice.

I've shot north of 500, but I got this bull at a lased 455 with a .300 H&H mag shooting prone off a backpack.

Just joined a range with a 300yrd target. Hitting it with my .243 is pretty easy. My .17hmr? Lots of holdover.

300 yards is the longest I can shoot, and that is backed up to the neighbor's fence. I hit an 8" bull three times with a 30-30 once just to see if I could.

300 meters with a rifle. With a M2 or M60 I think 600-800 meters, and about 1500-1800 meters with 120MM.

My longest MEASURED, WITNESSED shots were to repeatedly bang a 14" gong at 700 yards at the Angeles Shooting Range once I dialed in my AR-50.

I have shot at and hit things at distances I believe to be significantly farther, but I had no way to accurately measure the distance.

Professionally, 3750 meters... with a TOW missile.

ETA;

300 yards for me.  I had to drive a fair amount even to get to a range that had that length.  I'm not aware of any ranges with greater than that that are within an hour and a half of me.

Depends on how you define "your" shot...

217 yards head shot on a  groundhog w/a 30.30 and a 2.5X scope--my personal favorite;

1000 yards all day w/my buddies .50;

37000 feet w/a smart bomb; and,

about 200 miles(?) w/a Tomahawk.....

of course, the last two were "proxy" shots, LMAO!

Radios and lasers are POWERFUL tools....

Over the years I've done a bit of 1000 yd Match shooting and a fare bit of long range Prairie Dog shooting.  My longest Prairie Dog hit is 945 Yards.

In order to  make hits on prairie dogs at that distance you first must know the exact range.  Laser range finders won't do the job because of the size of the target mostly but for other reasons as well.  I picked up a Wild Optical Range Finder a few years ago and modified the the mount.  The Wild is a Swiss instrument made for WW2 Artillery use.  The Wild has a 12X optic so prairie dogs are easy to spot.

In addition I use a tablet with "Shooter" installed to give me the ballistic info I need.

The rifle I'm using here is a trued 700 Remington in 6mm BR Norma.  Using the 105 Hornady AMAX. The scope is a Leupold 6.5X20 and the bench is a Coyote Jake swivel bench.

1010y on a army range with the M107, farthest target range control would set up for whatever reason.  Ended up having a contest on which shooting team could knock the targets off the stands. The trick was to hit it while it was still moving from the other teams shot.

And then a herd of turkey's wandered into the range.....

Personal owned stuff I've only hit out to 710 or so, which is depressing.

1025 is my longest hit with my 260. I can get to a range that goes to a mile, at that range it takes a little bit of luck too, but I'd like to give it a try.

'Ya gotta love those 6.5 bore rifles.  I know I am a devoted fan of 'em.  Once I started working/playing with them, there was no comparison to my 30 cal rifles.   At any distance over 400 yards there is no way that a 7.62x51 can keep up with a  260 Remington.

A 7.62x51 goes transonic between 800-1200 yards/meters.  My 260 Remington shooting a 142 Sierra match king at a modest 2813 FPS still has 1033 FPS velocity at 1700 yards.  Of course, if you hot load either cartridge, you will get more distance, but I'm just not sure how much further than 1700 yards I would be shooting.
