Hypothetical:
You've got one year left to live. You have to continue to work your job up until your death for your family to receive life insurance benefits and because you need to provide for them. What do you want to do before the end? |

What do you want to do before the end? Exactly. I'm not spending another minute working if I only have a year left. |

Spend every single minute with my wife and son. Teach him everything I can. This thread is sad.
ETA- fuck the benefits/insurance. +100087, Im out. Time for family only. |
I'd keep working, but on a lighter schedule. I'd be bored numb, otherwise.
ETA: I have no wife or kids, so I'd just have to cover my funeral expenses. Maybe take out a billion dollar life insurance policy or something, just for kicks. |

Where to hide all the dead hookers would take up most of my time.

I would do everything I could to prepare my family for my absence. My time on earth is finite, but I would never want to burden them.

Sell a lot of shit, load up my Enduro for The Last Great Adventure ™

I don't have any family.
I don't have any job. So I would probably do the same thing I am doing already. For all I know, I DO only have a year to live. EDIT: After thinking about it, I guess I would do some things differently. Because if I knew I only had a year to live, I could blow through my life savings. What I would do with it, I have no idea. |
I'd work til I couldn't, then take a long walk on a short pier. Fishing accident. Wifey and chirren would be well off and she could get her a "pool boy".
Sky diving, Rocky Mountain climbing, 2.7 seconds on a bull named Fu Manchu.
Fuck work. My $500,000 life insurance policy will cover expenses.
I would spend as much time with my wife and daughter as I could. |
Definite without a shadow of a doubt 1 year to live?
Spend it with my son and granddaughter until the last 3 months where I'd move around the big cities taking out dope dealers and other low-life scum ala "The Punisher"- assuming I wouldn't be in mortal agony the last few months. |
They're going to have to start living on their own without my paycheck soon enough, they might as well start learning how that works now, because I'm saying my goodbyes and hitting the road.
ETA: Of course, I don't have a wife or children, so I suspect my family is a bit different than what you had in mind. |
Plot twist: I don't have a a wife or kids.
I'd go to Utah and ski. |
Fuggin' A, man. Seriously, I'd be home with SWMBO, spending more time with friends and family, go see as many live blues acts as I could, do more skydiving and SCUBA with my friends, pilot an aircraft at least once, take SWMBO to Bali one more time, and upon my return on the last day, just kind of "forget" to open my chute on my last jump. Oh, and eat and drink a lot more pork and beer. |
I would spend all the time I could with my dog. And I would make sure that my estate was handled properly in order that the dog could get her trust fund. |

Im single, have no kids and if I add up all my credit card limits, I am worth over 100 grand, just in credit. I currently have no other debt, own my home outright etc etc.
Kiss off the job, no kids, no wife, so no care about life insurance. The funeral director would be paid up front. After that, however... There would be newspaper stories about what I did. I do like the previous post about jumping the last day after eating a ton of pork. Id aim for a ________ Enter something good that doesn't like bacon |

Take a nice vacation with the SO. Actually go somewhere. Spend some quality time with him. I always wanted to see Spain, maybe we'd go there.
See my sister graduate. Drive my car as fast as I wanted everywhere I went, and pay every speeding ticket happily. It's not going to matter in the end anyway, is it? Plan up something elaborate to keep the SO going after I'm gone. Maybe leave him love letters that he'll discover bit by bit. Honestly, the dying wouldn't scare me, but knowing he and my family would be sad... well, that's agonizing. I think mostly what I would want is to get as much time in with them as possible. Soak them up like sunshine, because that's what they are. The light in my life. |
I'd work and work to provide for my daughter while I still can.

Do what I`ve been doing for the last five years. Travel with the wife and Boxerdog while in search of really really big trout, pike and tuna. I`m pretty sure I`m in my last decade as it is. I would , if given a strict timetable, make time to see old friends one more time. Most of mine have made my life the best I could hope for. Oh,,,clean out my shop one more time.
