YES... but besides the barrel/upper the rest isn't anything special.

My FIL has one of their uppers, and it's a pretty sweet shooter.

They make quality rifles. I mean, the rails are $300-600 on their own for most of them.

I'm not really even in the market for an expensive AR, it just caught my eye and got me to thinking. I'm sure that it won't do anything else that my other ARs won't do but man does it look nice

$1,500.00 for a carbine that I would have to replace the stock and grip on? No way.
Hell I can buy a LaRue or Noveski upper and a LMT complete lower for less than $1,500 |

DD rifles are very good. It's actually a pretty good buy for the price. DD has good customer service, from what I've heard. I was going to buy one, but got a really sweet deal on a slightly used KAC SR15. View Quote I can vouch for their customer service as I appear to be one of the few who has had any issue with a nib from them. I bought a v1 from them about 5 years ago and it jammed or ftf about every 3-4 rounds with several different ammos and mags. Called em up, got a RA e-mailed to me, shipped it back and had it returned pretty quick. Have had zero problems since. Would definitely not hesitate to buy another. Very accurate weapon. |

No thanks on a 15" quad rail. Stock trigger sucks on it. That said...
My V5 is wonderful. Swapped the Lite III 12" for a lighter 15" keymod. Been flawless. |

Love my m4v3. Its just very a solid feeling, soft shooting gun. You can tell the quality is there over say a 6920, which I also have and appreciate. I would say to watch Primary Arms if youre interested in a DD, they have $400 off sales pretty often.

Eye of the beholder question. It's a solid rifle from a stand up company with no functional difference from any other solid AR from another stand up company in the market sector. I'm not exactly sure what they charge a premium for, but it isn't a rip off or a bargain.
|
|
[#35]
They're decent guns, although for a while they were sending out their 10" guns/uppers with retarded large gas ports that raped component life.
That would be a serviceable rifle, but I would prefer to assemble a more updated configuration for about the same price. I'd have to look at that stock in person, but offhand I think I might prefer a slightly sturdier design to mortar with. |

A $439 dpms will do the same thing all day long. Mods I thought you were banning folks for admitting to drug use. I mean this guy is obviously smoking rock. That wasn't me that said that, but seriously, what is one rifle going to do that the other one isn't ? The only thing that comes to my mind is that the DD probably has a more expensive barrel that might shoot tighter bench-rest groups. In these threads people post things like: I have 3000 rounds through mine and it has been flawless. Or I shot mine in a carbine class and never had a problem. That is a good thing, don't get me wrong but every AR I ever owned could say the same thing. That isn't a big accomplishment worthy of spending a thousand bucks to achieve. I am into the whole AR gadget/overkill thing and personally would buy the rifle from DD but that is just cause I think it's cool. |
|
[#39]
I would not buy it for that price. If it was on sale for like $1100 or something maybe.
Personally, I would not want a huge quad rail like that with all the lighter rails out there. I would also change the stock, put a geissele trigger in it, and throw on some sights. That would put me way too close to $2,000 before optics. The only parts that matter being daniel defense are the barrel and bolt carrier. However, with the bravo company free bolt carrier deal I would jump on one of their uppers instead. |

Equipping a Colt 6920 with a DD lite rail and a Sopmod stock results in a rifle that is pretty similar in cost.
I've never seen a DD rifle in person. How good is that stock they come with?

There's more or less about $400 worth of what would otherwise be aftermarket furniture on that rifle. So it's actually about $1K which includes a hammer forged barrel (about $60-70 more than milspec) plus DD quality and service, so yeah it's reasonably priced.

what DD model is comparable to the 6920? The no longer produced VX carbine. None. They'd have to decrease their quality to produce a rifle similar to the 6920. |
