Literally the stupidest fucking thing ever. They used this bullshit to fund a new car, then they put their eye candy pretty officer out in front to "spread awareness." You'd have to be extremely distracted while driving to figure out what the fuck it even says on it. And there's some cop getting paid on average about 65K a year at this agency. I saw this parked on the sidewalk in front of Target last week. The female officer was standing around like she's god's gift to modern law enforcement. Amazing. That's your tax dollars at work. |

Is your argument then to have unmarked cars giving out citations instead of this method?

Dude, it's Fairfax. They spend money on stupid shit and have horrible roads.
But, I don't exactly care they spent a couple grand on a vehicle wrap. They are gonna park this at high schools and other high traffic areas so people see it. People need to put their phones down and drive. |

Did the Officer in the "distracted driving" poster car successfully drive, operate the radio, operate the computer, talk on the cellphone, input data in the GPS and monitor the plate scanner safely on her way to whatever PR event the pictures were taken at?

After the PR event, at night, they parked it on the side of the road with all $20,000 of LED strobe lights going off to blind drivers for officer safety. |

A major part of policing today is interaction and education with the public.
I doubt this car is ever used for anything other than going to events much like the DARE program vehicles were. Typically PDs get more money from various sources if they do a little "community policing" so dont blame the pd for getting the car. If it was up to them the money would probably be used on mraps or something else to piss people off. |

That means a lot of traveling on roadways to get to those destinations for the education. It's just absurd that they utilize a vehicle which reasonably draws a distracted reaction from viewers towards it. |

View Quote That's just embarrassing. Can they show any real proof that this kind of "advertising" works? Or is it just more feel good liberal bullshit? I'd rather see them take that money and spend it on officer salaries, training or some useful equipment. Of course, I'm assuming that the money spent on that would actually go to something of value instead of some other equally stupid idea.
