I wonder what percentage of those ever blow up when they land back asswards downrange?
Ten guys hanging around when they are loading up the launcher but absolutely nobody anywhere around when they "launch " it . Gives a hint as to the percentage that blow as opposed to launching. I wouldn't want that crap falling on me but the danger seems to be in the building and launching. |

IRAM.
Popped up in OIF circa 2007, IIRC.. Short range and some were launched out of Sadr city I think. Kiiled a Nigerian tower guard. I can't remember the details but I do remember that an IRAM TF was stood up by JIEDDO. Wiki |

I've dealt with the IRAM threat around rustimiyah and loyalty and Callahan. They used 107mm rocket engines that pushed a welding cylinder full of PE-4. The fuze is time fuze that gets ignited once a lanyard is pulled upon launch then the time fuze burns down to blasting caps that are crimped on. I would imagine that those big ass mortars are setup similar because they can't be relied upon to land nose first.
All the launch vehicle had remote timers or RC controlled launch on them. |

Ya they where all on timers. One landed right through a open door of a fule truck driver side door. The truck was sitting right out side the defac That was the only one that day that did not go bang. |
