I have had Dog Vader less than a month and I just seen him try climb a tree to kill Mr. Squirrel. Funny as hell.

Steve jumped out of a moving Jeep to chase a squirrel...  I had to buy a seatbelt harness for when the top and doors are off.

My dog will try to kill any animal that is in our yard that he feels does not belong there. And its all his decision, if he doesn't like it, it will die. Crazy mf'er.

My Lab always use to go after squirrels. In her prime she could actually catch them, but she would just give them a bite and then bark at them as they ran away.

The Babe is a squirrel hunting machine.

When she takes me for a walk, she gets five points

for spotting one and another five points if she trees it.

Lots of fun.

Has been known to climb a tree or two in

hot pursuit.

She also loves to hunt voles....Totally

different approach.

I had a St Bernard that chased everyone she saw. She was small for that breed,  only around 95 lbs., so she had speed.

Stuck her nose in a hole between two trunks once and a squirrel popped out of the hole.  She checked that hole every time we walked by.

Parrot on youtube clip says Squirrel. Dachshunds go berserk. Squirrel is not a word spoken in this home for that reason.

We only have 1 squirrel, the dogs want it sooooooo bad.
But Squirrel is far to fast for them.

We are also overrun with rabbits.
"GET TEH BUNNY"  gets em running out into the yard, normally in the opposite direction of where the rabbits actually are.
A for effort though.

Buddy of mine had a fat old Basset that loved to chase squirrels...mind you, he never caught any, but that didn't deter him from galumphing around raising hell until he got all tired and thirsty.

He used to do the same to cats, until he caught up with one that wasn't afraid of dogs...

After that, he ignored them utterly.

Neither they nor rabbits are safe in our yard.  We have a three year old mutt...she looks like an all black border collie who is the fastest dog I've ever seen.  She's gotten three squirrels and a rabbit this year.  At first I thought she was scavenging until I saw her catch one.  She just runs right through them.  Last year she saw a fox in the field and with a good angle bulldozed him spinning him around before he escaped.  Her only match has been a doe who chased her out of the woods.  Wouldn't believed it if I hadn't seen it.  All that said she's the oddest dog I've ever had as well.

Mine goes crazy when she sees one. Will dash from one side of the truck to the other.

Manages to ignore me telling her to come here but can spot a squirrel a mile away.

We have a jack russel terrier.  Their brains are hard wired to go after varmint.  I used to do a kissing sound squirrel impersonation and he would go nuts when he heard it.

When he was a pup he would sit under the power/telephone lines and bark like hell at the squirrels running across.  Once, one fell off the wire and landed at his feet and he went berzerk - probably the happiest I've seen him.  I don't think he ever killed a squirrel though.

Now we're out in the sticks and his prey of choice is baby rabbits and rock chucks (golden marmots).  I've seen him take out 3 rabbits in 5 minutes.  The marmots are huge - he'll corner them in a rock pile and fight them for hours until I come help him finish the job.  The last one I dispatched was missing about 1/3 of his fur by the time I could step in.

My lab/pit mix doesn't give 2 craps about squirrels in the yard but oddly she loves chasing the tennis balls I throw. Even when I throw the tennis ball at a squirrel she still doesnt care. But she is only 9 months and when I am home always 2 feet away from me.
Oddly my old pit/country dog mutt loved chasing anything that moved and killed several squirrels, rabbits and chipmunks. (RIP)

Mine gave up on the squirrels. They would come down the tree just far enough to tempt him. He got smart and now just ignores them.

Anything else is far game though. He's brought me about dozen feral cats, a possum, a couple armadillos, various snakes, a snapping turtle, rabbits, a handful of chickens and a fucking Owl!

Every dog I've ever had loved to chase squirrels.

The GSD/Border Collie mix could run down rabbits all day long, but could never figure out why squirrels would disappear after they ran past a tree.

Funny, but I nearly lost my arm to my dog darting after squirrels this morning.  He spotted a squirrel carrying ANOTHER squirrel in its mouth and went fucking ballistic.  The squirrel providing medivac support said "fuck this" and dropped wounded squirrel and bolted up the tree.

I was laughing so hard that I almost let dag get within chomp range of the other one.

I have a Belgian Malinois. If it moves within his territory his goal for the foreseeable future is to destroy it.

Squirrels, rabbits, birds, groundhogs, fox, feral cats. He's gotten them all so far.

However, if I call him off, he stops in his tracks and comes right on back.

Yes, but he has never caught one.  Has a few mole kills though.
