Im fucked up enough over this but now I can sleep just a tad better....... Wow. Sorry for your loss OP. Im not sure the eyes of the law dont see it like you do but Im glad its easier on the family. If the bullet went through his brain, then he was dead when the bullet left his head. Can a dead person kill the living?

Is it bad if I don't have any sympathy for someone that kills themselves in front of their cheating girlfriend and manages to kill her as well?
I'd say its possible that in that state of mind that he could have been hoping the bullet hit the girl. |

While it's possible he intended to kill her, I think it's far more likely someone intending to kill his girlfriend would have simply pointed a gun at her and pulled the trigger before putting it to his head and doing the same; as is the case with every single murder-suicide with a firearm I've ever heard of.
Further - the definition of murder is killing with malice aforethought; unless he was intending on a "double kill", which as I said I think is unlikely, the guy would be guilty of some sort of manslaughter - not murder. What most likely happened is the guy simply broke down and put a bullet in his head without thinking of the consequences or worrying about his surroundings. Severe suicidal thoughts can lead people to do that. |
