Some videos of it...This isn't me. It's a guy on RCGroups. . . Ati Mode http://youtu.be/wXh_3r3EbCc . . GPS Hold http://youtu.be/WSTJo6knHKE . . Return to Home http://youtu.be/twV7ajudSTA View Quote One thing stands out in these videos to me. They never show it flying with a camera or gimbal. That is a real challenge for these smaller quads. The Phantom shines when it comes to aerial video and is a proven platform. What about the GoPro interference issues like I suffered with with my Blade QX350s? At least that is something that (knocking on wood) I have never had an issue with while flying my Phantoms for about a year or more now. Phantom prices are coming down now also so I will just put that out there. I know nothing about this particular quad so I really can't speak about what it does or doesn't do, but do a lot of searching before pulling the trigger on this one. Walkera came out with similar last year and from all accouts has been a nightmare for most owners at a slightly higher price. |

The gimbal is a cheap 60-$100 Chinese one. Also...this quad is the same size as the Phantom and uses some of the same parts. From what I can tell...the camera is cheap as well. Also...props need balanced As for the gopro....where you using the wifi on it? Just get a real FPV 5.8ghz transmitter and be done with it or maybe I'm missing something? You can change out the receiver on this quad if it's needed too. |

I'm still waiting to be able to get a decent thermal scope for under a grand though. |

So...lets say this...If you had a $400 budget, what would you buy? Not all the videos in that thread are mobius (which actually is very good for the price) and even ones with the gimbals were vibrating bad. These are much more than prop issues. Motors out of balance, bad (cheap bearings) wrong gains in the firmware, vibrations were transferring through the frame in some that even had the camera mounted in foam on the body. Most quads have some Jello but those were very bad and all had BAD vibrations in all I watched from several different owners |

Last year I bought a new Phantom1 and Phantom FC40 for $409 each off EBay plus 4 spare batteries from Nitrohobbies. Great seller by the way. Keep an eye out and they may soon be on sale again. I lucked up because 3 days later I could not find one under $499. With that budget it really depends on what your end goals are with that particular Quad. |

They just dropped the prices on Phantom 2s by $100 and the battery prices have come way way down. The original $300 battery price kept me from buying the P2 version when they came out. They are about $125 ea now and many are modifying them to use regular batteries. |

I bought a Phantom FC40 last week and it came in today. I made two flights with it and am amazed. I will be putting the camera on it tomorrow and see how the FPV looks with it. I think its a pretty good buy at $499

I want to mount one of these thermal cameras to a quad copter but I have no idea how to broadcast the image in real time back to the operator. Since it uses an Android phone, is there some way to send the image by Wi-Fi or Bluetooth? Is something like that even possible?

Your phone would have to be capable of outputting live video via HDMI or some other form of output so that the 5.8ghz video transmitter could send the live feed to you. WiFi doesn't have a great range (About 300 FT open field). Neither does Blutooth (About 30 FT). Can it be done...Most likely, but it greatly depends on your phone and if your quad can carry the weight So the question is...can you hook up your phone to your TV to display what is on your screen? If so, then you should be able to get this to work. |

It's not a stand alone camera as it needs an an app that runs on the Android OS to work, so I don't think there would be any way of just outputting a video signal from just the camera alone. Who knows, maybe at some point it may be possible to make some sort of separate interface that may do it. I'm not familiar with how it works but it is done through USB. If something like a USB to video converter exists, maybe it could be rigged up that way. |

I want to mount one of these thermal cameras to a quad copter but I have no idea how to broadcast the image in real time back to the operator. Since it uses an Android phone, is there some way to send the image by Wi-Fi or Bluetooth? Is something like that even possible? http://therm-app.com/ Tough call on that. It looks as if it uses the phone's usb port to power the camera and then uses the phone's camera to view the IR image. Just a guess based on this image. Edit: Looks like I'm wrong...Interesting |

We're discussing the camera in this thread in the Night Vision forum. http://www.ar15.com/forums/t_6_18/430829_Therm_App_Review___Photo___Video___Consolidated_Thread_.html |

Anybody use these for shooting? Watching or checking targets at distance? After further research the phantom 2 vision plus is likely to get ordered by the end of the year hopefully sooner.
