Just did my iPad, and against my better judgement my iPhone 5. So far liking it my phone in particular seems much faster now in mail and Safari. My battery is at 100% so we will see how long it lasts.

IPad2 updated ok.
I let the update do its thing while I went to bed. Woke up this morning to an updated iPad, seems to run fine so far, no issues.

Forgot to do my updates yesterday. Had it downloaded but not updated. So updating now.

I dont really understand what is going on with all my pictures. They're there, but they're not. I'm not fond of the whole "collections" part.
The default text tone is like a hearing test. Scared the crap out of me.

Otherwise, I'm pleased. Anyone install Swiftkey yet? If so, did you notice that in order to use the full features one must allow the app to transmit every keystroke to the developer? I've never deleted an app so quickly. |

I've never deleted an app so quickly. Yeah, I was a little mystified why they took away the default "Camera Roll" album. I actually hate doing "photo management" so I rarely create albums. I have gotten somewhat used to the Collections way of navigating. Only took me a week. That Swiftkey clause is a bit disconcerting. I'm surprised Apple let that crap through review. I have no desire to tinker with funky keyboards--my keyboard works just fine the way it's been for 50+ years. It's so ingrained into my head, trying to switch to something else is pointless at this point in my life. I'll let the next generation screw with alternate keyboards... |
Wow, the predictive text above the keyboard is a total ripoff of Android...
Edit - Update borked my phone at first. Was about 90% through when I get a popup on iTunes that said something like "iTunes encountered an error and was unable to recover". Had to do a full reset/reload on my phone, which of course took HOURS. |
Last night said 30hrs. Thought, meh, went to bed. Woke up and said it failed. Doing it now, 14hrs.
ETA: Software Update Failed Fuck it. |
can you turn off the suggested text above text? cant stand that...
No problems updating for me. Plugged into computer, took less than an hour.

I don't like the extra space it takes up and the busy-ness of the screen. I'll stick with my standard keyboard that has served me well the past 5 years or so. |

So my wife didn't upgrade her phone yet, but she's telling me that my texts to her are now showing up in a new thread, and she can't respond in the old thread between us. It says "message delivery failure".
Any ideas? |
I upgraded my 5s yesterday. Now the only glitch I have seen is the Weather Channel app keeps crashing. Oh, and google app is acting weird.
Updated the 5s, works great. Updated the air, seems a bit buggy. Apps crashing, screen glitching. Wife updated her 5c, and ipad 2, works great for her.
Looks like a majority of problems are with the tablets.
Also if you have a 4s the upgrade WILL slow your phone down. In fact most all factory apps have slowed to almost double loading time and cold boot takes 30% longer. Just something to consider. |

Two 5s are working great. 2nd gen iPad is a little buggy. Some apps are crashing and Safari is acting up. Not surprised.

safari on my ipad 2 on arfcom is wack
things that took 1 click are taking 3 and sometimes the main forum tab goes grey and i have to reload it

Figured this out. I had to completely disable iMessage. I then re-enabled. I went back into the Messages settings and some new options appeared at the bottom "Start new conversations from". I selected my phone number and that made the greyed out number farther up the menu become checked as well. |
Just updated to 8. It took about fifteen, twenty minutes or so.
Now I have Swype. |
Updated my iPhone 5 yesterday with no issues. Seems a bit snappier.
Can't send emails from my phone now. It keeps trying to send it and drains the battery in no time.

Updated my 4s.
My phone is now a brick. It just crashed at the iCloud setup screen regardless of whether I enter the password or skip. |
I like the double home button tap and can quickly see my recently contact list and can make a call/text from there.

1. Hide QuickType Suggestions
The new QuickType keyboard brings the biggest change to text input since copy and paste, but it might not be for everyone. So if you want to ditch the predictive results and go back to the old way of autocorrect, simply swipe down on the new gray bar to hide it. When you’re ready to give QuickType another chance, just swipe back up. |

My GF used to get into this problem on the iPhone4 with OS 6 all the time. It's a long term consistent bug, or she's clicking on the wrong stuff. Once a thread gets into emailing, it won't stop until you delete the thread.

Works fine, no major difference upon first impression but the new features list sounds good, finally catching up to Android but still behind.
Maybe I'll sell my iphone 5 and get a note4 or new nexus. |
Thanks for the warning arf. I am not going to update my 4s anytime soon.
