Looks like NVGeologist will be arriving Thursday night at the rendezvous point. I will likely meet him early Friday AM and we can head to the site to set up targets. I will make sure someone who has been to the property is there at 8AM either way to meet the porta potty guy and whoever else ends up there at that time. I think an early start on the target set up would help immensely as that's going to be the most time consuming part of the set up.
|
|
Update: I'm meeting the porta potty guy the weekend before when we take our trailers. This is now not an issue.
Also, NVGeologist will be at the rendezvous point Thursday night, so I can meet him however early the rest of you fellers wants to get there. If nothing else, I may head in with NVG around 6AM or so, and have my buddy meet you guys at whatever time you'd like, or 8AM as we'd discussed. |

One thing forgot to mention when I talked to you was if you can, maybe run the local guys that are going to be working the course the weekend before.
I know that might be hard to do with having to set up the targets and possibly take them back down, but it is hard to work the course for hours, then run it yourself. Your times may suffer if your tired and it also help to work bugs out before go time. also it is 3 - 4 less people to run the day of. Just a thought. |

I got a couple cheapo walkie talkies that we could leave one hanging with a sign to call for pick up if it's not to far. I don't remember the range though. |

I am taking Friday the 20th off work so I should be on site by 1:00-2:00 PM. (Not that anyone cares but me.)
How far would you say the parking site is from the actual site of CWW, as the crow flies? Any mountains or large hills in the way? If the locations are close enough for VHF HTs to reach then I may have a plan, if there is a mountain or hill in the way I may bring a parrot box to put on top. |

Went out to my local public Mojave Wasteland shooting area today, (a bit north of Brooks Tumbleweed Ranch, best I can figure) to both put first rounds through my G34 (it's been a hell of a busy year), as well as familiarizing with the "normal" CW pistol distances of 25 and 40 yards. Well, poop. A whole bunch of light primer strikes. Now, it IS set up as a competition gun, and they are local store reloads, so I need to get some better ammo through it, but it may be replaced by the G17 for this.
Tomorrow, I'm headed to the Clark County shooting range to zero the 3-12 I've stolen from my AI AE MkI, on my 18" almost CWAR. Also, to get a feel for how the SCWAR handles out to 300ish. For reference, by the way, best reckoning based on not exactly completely corresponding New Vegas maps, I live in the close area of the Horowitz Farmstead. |

Ho-lee-crap.
This swag stuff is fantastic. Im not the first, and I wont be the last to say this, but P2, the sponsors, and all the CWW volunteers: Thank you so much for everything youve done to make this as awesome as it is going to be. I rarely get to be just a participant at any event, I know what its like behind the scenes. I hope you all share that feeling of loving what its like when a plan comes together. You should be proud. Thank you. All this is almost too good. too much wining. I think we need more "embrace the suck". I for one, hope for rain. |
