Search for suspected cop killer enters third week BARRETT TWP – State Police say they narrowing the area where they believe Eric Frein is hiding. The search area includes some former, now abandoned, large resorts in Barrett Township. There was some speculation Frein has been in at least one of them, the huge Buck Hill Inn in Barrett Township. That could not be verified. http://www.pocononews.net/news/2014/September/27/27Sep14-1.html During his remarks Friday, Bivens refuted reports of an inappropriate relationship between Douglass and Frein’s sister-in-law, Melissa. She married Frein’s brother, Michael, in 2006 and lives in the Acorn Hill Estates, the same housing development as Douglass.
“We cannot assume to know what Eric Frein believes, however, we are convinced Trooper Douglass and Melissa Frein did not have a personal relationship,” he said. Bivens later added, “I am told that there is no relationship whatsoever, that he (Douglass) does not even know them.” http://republicanherald.com/news/investigator-suspected-killer-planned-attack-for-years-1.1761035 As MailOnline exclusively reported on Thursday, Frein may have believed Douglass, 31, was having an affair with the fugitive's sister-in-law Melissa Frein.
Melissa Frein lives less than half a mile away from Douglass in Olyphant, Pennsylvania and police admit the two knew each other. They say they aggressively interviewed Melissa about rumors of an affair but say they now do not believe the two were involved. Melissa Frein, who recently left her job at the vaccine company Sanofi Pasteur in Swiftwater, Pennsylvania, did not return calls. A neighbor at the Olyphant address said he hadn't seen the mother-of-two for more than a week although he usually saw her every day. Melissa is the wife of the alleged gunman's older brother, Michael. Eric Frein was best man at their 2007 wedding at St. Joseph Melkite Greek Catholic Church in Scranton, Pennsylvania. Bivens said injured Trooper Douglass remains critical in hospital in a 'serious but stable condition.' He said Douglass had been 'troubled' by reports linking him with Frein's married sister-in-law. Got to get the story straight. He knew her, he didn't know her.... Pennsylvania Sate police spokesman Trooper Tom Kelly confirmed that Douglass and Melissa Frein are friends and there is no way to know whether Eric Frein believed that his sister-in-law was involved with the 31-year-old trooper until and unless they manage to arrest him. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2771034/Police-hunting-survivalist-cop-killer-search-haunted-hotel-used-MTV-show.html I've worked my fair share of husband/wife beat a BF/GF ass who was fucking the wife/husband deals but never a BIL/SIL took it up to seek revenge. Police: No Confirmed Sightings of Frein This Weekend
PRICE TOWNSHIP — The search for Eric Frein in Monroe County has been pretty similar over the past few days. It appeared most troopers were stationed in their cruisers on Snow Hill Road in Price Township Sunday night. Police could also be seen doing roving patrols in their vehicles. Earlier in the day much of the search was focused in the Delaware State Forest. Law enforcement headed into the forest on foot to look for the alleged cop killer. The search area remains just a few miles away from Frein’s family home in Canadensis, but state police said there were no confirmed sightings this weekend. Monday will be day 17 of the investigation. Earlier today on the radio they said they have him narrowed down to a small area because he used his cell phone. I haven't seen anything online about it though-anyone else hear it? That was from the Tuesday/Wednesday time frame where they narrowed it down to a 5sq mile area. Now they have multiple search areas, some well outside of that 5sq area, but the main focus is still in a portion of the original 5sq mile area (se section from latest reports). Hopefully the hrt guys hang around and get this search done with much quicker. What makes you think they'd get it done quicker? I'm struggling to recall any example of a successful operation by HRT. Rescue of kidnapped kid off a school bus in south AL. Guy took kid into an underground bunker. HRT took over and carried out the rescue. |

As other have pointed out, how many agents are still active from 21 years ago at Waco. I would also put as much blame on Koresh as I would the FBI. The poster asked about "struggling to recall any example of a successful operation by HRT (Hostage Rescue Team)", and I provided one and Bama has mentioned another. How many kids did Koresh allow to be killed? How many young girls were molested by that POS? The FBI operations there were stupid, but I won't put Koresh up as a hero either. |

After the leaves fall FLIR will be more effective. But can't it be defeated by covering up with a space blanket, one of the ones with cammo on one side and the reflective surface on the other. Space blankets are supposed to contain body heat. If he moves far from the search area it may not be possible to get him till the first snow falls and tracking becomes easy. View Quote As a point of basic theory, that won't work. You need to have the reflective side out. If you are wrapped this thing, the blanket is going to heat up. The heat in the material of the space blanket is then going to transfer to the environment via convection and radiation. The camouflage side of the space blanket is going to have a thermal emissivity on the order of 0.8-0.9, and the heat will be visible to IR sensors. The reflective side has an emissivity of around 0.1, or less, and the heat will not be visible to IR sensors - instead an IR sensor is going to see the thermal radiation from the environment reflected off of the surface of the blanket, much like the way a mirror behaves in the optical spectrum. Someone with a FLIR can probably demonstrate this. |

If I was a hostage in the US...well pretty much anywhere I think my top choice to help me would be the HRT. If I was hiding out with a target on my back from killing LE, HRT is one of the last teams I would want after me... |

Helicopters hovered so low over Pat Snively's home here that large trees swayed in the wind and she could see the faces of the pilots.
"It looked like Black Hawk Down, those helicopters," she said. Snively and her neighbors also lost power for several hours Saturday evening. PPL Electric reported that more than 70 customers lost power in the area; state police could not confirm that the outage was caused by wind from the helicopters.
