What bolt rifle would you wish you had, if your small plane crashed and stranded you (alone) in the Alaska bush for 3 months; with only the rifle on your back and  1 cargo pants pocket full of ammo?

Lets assume its summer, and you did not get badly hurt in the crash.

and Yes, I have been watching a bit of Mountain Man & Alaskan Rail Road tv shows lately

I wear some big ass BDU bottoms...I guess I could fit 3 20 round boxes of .308 in my pants.

Probably a Remington 700 PSS with good glass.

something light and handy that has very manageable recoil so I would say savage trophy hunter xp in .308 or 30.06

A friend has a .450Marlin built on a 700 action with a leupold 1-6.  That would be it

Winchester M70 Stainless in 30-06 or .375 HH. Either round is effective on game in Alaska and can be found at any hunting cabin you may come across.

one cargo pocket full of a large round is not going to get you very far.
22mag will feed you and protect you if your smart about it.

If I am   absolutely STUCK with a turn-bolt  mauser style rifle, I'd take  a .338 win mag.
If I had MORE  choice it'd  more likely be an 1895 lever gun,  in 45-70.

This without a doubt. Some people have already mentioned somewhat exotic firearms. That's just ridiculous if you're stranded alone for 3 months. It's best to go with something that's simple and proven. It just goes to show that some don't know how to properly plane.

I had two of those and with that straight bolt and the welded on site. If I worked the action fast, it would take the skin off the knuckles.
Of my pinky and ring fingers. They are great packing rifles though.

Any major manufacturer's rifle in .338 Rem Mag. One cargo pocket could hold a hundred rounds if it was on the big side and the ammo wasn't in boxes.

Thats exactly why mine is a K98k with a FR8 barrel, and not an FR8
