I have tried several of the ones on the market, but tonight I got to try a Johnny Appleseed... hands down the best!!  It is sweet, refreshing, and has bite.  It tastes IMHO what a good cider should taste like... APPLES!!

Johnny Appleseed is made from concentrate. The ones made from real apple juice is far far superior.

If you can get your hands on it, Woodchuck is likely the best American made mass produced variety. Lots of micro-cider makers are becoming popular.

You're right.

Sometimes my five year old gets thirsty when he has a rough day of playing with his Rescue Bots.

I give him some cider in his sippy cup.

ETA:  here's a before everyone gets butthurt and thinks I'm serious.

I have never enjoyed beer. I like a good whiskey or rum, but I don't drink much. So I'll have a cider when the situation calls for beer. I like Johnny Appleseed a lot.

I know... but it is also a pain in the ass.  My dad makes homemade wine and homemade applejack every year... in fact the worst hangover I have ever had was brought on by over indulging in applejack...

I don't know about pain in the ass.  Unless, pain in the ass is the waiting part.

You need to drink a bunch of water and take a couple of aspirin after drinking a bunch of it.  It's dehydrating.

That's just a less sugar added made from concentrate cider. If you like it, that's fine, but there are much better options out there.

You know you can buy cider and apple juice at the store.  Add some sugar and some yeast and wait.

You don't have to go out and plant apple trees to get cider.

I used to use yeast but since trying a natural fermentation Ive trusted 270 gallons of cider now to wild yeast and would never do it another way. The wild yeast offers more flavor while being less hassle. I quit using sulphites too, It goes against all conventional wisdom but has worked very well.

I have used wild yeast, but I do prefer the consistency of the yeast provided by my local zymurgist.

Have to agree with the Johnny Appleseed.  I'll make the point that it tastes much better out of the cans than the bottles imho.  Woodchuck, Angry Orchard, Redds and Mikes smashed apple are great too.

I never tried any hard ciders prior to visiting Ireland this year, and they have a brand called Bulmer's that was outstanding. To my surprise,  I drank more Bulmer's than Guinness.   When I got home, I tried varius brands, but the US doesn't have anything near as good as Bulmer's.  Of all that I've tried since my return, I think Angry Orchard is the best bang for the buck. Crispin is only slightly better than Angry Orchard, but Crispin is also $6 for a 22oz bottle.  But go easy on the cider, that stuff is about 225 calories per bottle!
