Also...my current go to kind of local beer is Devil's Backbone Vienna Lager.

It is delicious.

My favorite is the Schwartzbier black lager.

Try it fresh from a Tap if you really want to like it.

I have to credit SA Octoberfest for getting me into really good beer.  I used to think I was a beer "snob", drinking things like SA and Blue Moon, Shiner, Guinness, etc.  Then I tried some Octoberfest.  That lead me to trying some REAL Oktoberfest (Spaten), which lead me to German doppelbocks, Belgian Tripples/Quads, stuff like that.

Better on tap than in a bottle!

SA Octoberfest is a nice "gateway" beer, an intro to the Marzen style.  Right now I like Flying Dog's Dogtoberfest. .  All of the marzens from the motherland are of course tasty too.

And if you like Marzens, try a good dunkelweizen.  Erdinger is a good start.

It isn't bad.  Heavy beer with 180 calories per bottle (IMO), but a good one.

Been to one of the places that makes it.  Nothing like drinking it prior to pasteurization and just above freezing...of course a keg/tap can give the same effect.

If price per drink is important, just buy a bottle of everclear and mix it with tap rain water.

Mandrake, have you ever seen a commie drink a glass of water?

OP, enjoy your new favorite beer and don't worry about liking the wrong one. I know a guy who takes pride in only ever drinking regular Budweiser. Not lite, not lime, just Bud. I couldn't do that, I love sampling and discovering new flavors, but to each his own.

My favorite is Spaten Oktoberfest. The only decent American Marzen is made by Gordon Biersch.

This Insane Rush IPA im drinking was canned 13 hours ago..

It is fucking amazing. Octoberfest style beers are too light for me. Not enough flavor.

Cannot believe the amount of beer snobs here.  All your fancy beers must go down nice in your lovely suburban homes.

What happened to hard working guys drinking domestic favorites?

Busch Light, Coors Lt, and once in awhile if I'm feeling like spending more I'll spring for some Blue Moon.

People found out that beer can have taste.

And they can be domestic. Domestic as shit. Like made a couple miles from where I'm sitting.
