I'm sure the beer snobs will be along shortly to explain the error of my ways.
I drink maybe two six packs a year. Last night a friend said "I know you don't drink much but taste this". I drank three last night and they all tasted great. Seems to me to have less carbonation too but I don't drink enough to be able to tell. Just bought my first six pack in years. |

Dude. You need to get out more. It's good, but it ain't the best ever. |
Wow honestly OP you need to drink more beer seriously.
You should come out to portland in the last weekend in july and get your brewfest on it will change your outlook on what is good beer. |
Not the best. But good if you don't have any microbrews in your area that makes authentic german ocktoberfest
Sam Adams usually does a pretty good job, Oktoberfest is no exception.
Also...my current go to kind of local beer is Devil's Backbone Vienna Lager. It is delicious. |
It's a pretty decent all around choice. Not bad, but there are better.
I used to buy a couple-three cases at a time around the season, but got burned out on it. I might give it another swing this year. |
I am, by all accounts, an immense beer snob. I drink all sorts of trappist ales and one-off microbrews and shit no one can find.
I think Sam Octoberfest is delicious and I look forward to its release every fall. Don't let the other snobs shame you. |
Octoberfest is the best tasting beer ever, would have been a more accurate statement - and a statement I could get behind.
Glad to hear you found a beer you like though, everyone should have a go-to. |
You live a sheltered life. I say this as I am sipping on Weyerbacher Nineteen.
OP, you like what you like. No one else has your exact tastes. That's why there are more than a few choices of beers. Enjoy your new found brew.
Try Paulaner Oktoberfest Marzen, Spaten Oktoberfest or Hofbrau Oktoberfestbier then get back to us, OP...
Beer taste is extremely subjective. But you are correct. A lot of people that like beer, like Sam Adams Oktoberfest. Good stuff. |
Not a beer snob so my opinion means little here in GD, but I had some Spaten Oktoberfest last weekend and thought it was pretty good! I'm definitely going to buy some more if I can find it.

Take a trip to the Columbia River Gorge and you'll never buy another Sam again.

SA Octoberfest is pretty good beer (I'm having one right now). I try to sample as many octoberfest beers as I can this time of the year.
Pretty good. Yesterday I had a Warsteiner Oktoberfest for the fist time this year. Also a solid choice.

Well one thing I have learned over the years is your tastes are all yours.
I have tried SA beers and generally liked them, Octoberfest is a good offering. I did just try an O'fallon Smoked Porter this weekend and can say I really genuinely enjoyed it! Boulevard here in KC and O'fallon out by St. Louis offer some very solid choices including some good seasonal beers!! If ya find one you like I say: |

That's like saying Five Guys is the best burger you ever tasted.
It's good stuff but there are thousands of beers out there, a significant portion that are better. YMMV
We drank SA Octoberfest all weekend. I'm not a beer snob either OP. Awaiting SA Winter Lager too.
Try real Oktoberfest beers now
Try Spaten, weihenstepaner or Paulaner |

Didn't we just do this exact thread less than a week ago? That was a week ago, now it's this week. I don't think its been a week. It was like 4-5 days ago. I can't search for it. |

Try a shop that will let you build your own six pack and you can try all kinds of different beers.
SA makes some pretty good beers, but there are better ones out there. Micro beers are the ticket. |
It's pretty mediocre as is most of Sam Adams beers. They are good stepping stones into the world of craft beer for people that only drink Bud Light.
I thought ARFcom did not like Sam Adams beer, for some reason?
Wasn't support for gun control, or some shit? |
Sam Adams Octoberfest is the best tasting beer I've ever tasted. View Quote Then you haven't been to a real German Fest, and drank real German Fest Beer.....IN GERMANY! |
