It is racist. This thread is racist. You are racist. Everything is racist.

Nope. Always ranked as my #1 comedy. We were trying to figure out at work if it was considered racist. I couldn't see how, but I'm not Irish. View Quote View All Quotes View All Quotes Quoted:

There are gags that involve racism but the speaker is the butt of the joke in them. Correct. The racists are the morons in this movie. this--the entire theme of the movie is that racism is stupid. the hero of the piece is a black man who has to deal with a bunch of hillbillies. richard pryor helped write the damn thing.

It's not racist, it makes fun of everyone, blacks, Jews, womens, rednecks, gays, racists, etc.

Quoted: If you think that Blazing Saddles is racist, then the entire point of the movie went sailing over your head. View Quote +1. The whole point of the movie is to poke fun at racists. AIUI, Mel Brooks wrote the lines for Cleavon Little. Richard Pryor wrote the lines for many of the white characters.

Of course, Y'all will have the common decency to not mention this thread to anyone?

1. It's a comedy. Comedians always get a pass on that stuff.
2. There were black actors making fun of black people - and white people. Which time was racist, when the black actors made fun of blacks, or when they made fun of whites? 3. People need to get over that shit and do the best they can, be proud of themselves and what they accomplish and if they want more, work harder instead of looking for someone else to blame it on. Too much blame these days, not enough of taking responsibility for yourself and your family. |

It was the opposite of racism, it was humor that acknowledged the existence of racism but chose to mock and ridicule it rather than wallow in miserable experience possible because of it.
|
|
|
Not it's not at all. The exact opposite. The racists are portrayed as fools and corrupt and criminals ,the black characters are smart and hard working and don't want to rape or murder or rob anyone not even knock out game but the white characters do.
Actually thinking about it, yes it is but not against the race you are thinking. |

I always kind of thought that the whole point of Blazing Saddles was to point how stupid racism really is by making fun of it...

Not racist, its a parody film of blaxploitation, same as I'm Gonna Git You Sucka. View Quote another movie all serious movie watchers should see. the part where he fake leg comes off gets me every time. supposedly that movie was filmed using 3-4 credit cards and all of the actors donated their time. I don't know how much of that is true or not. |
|
The movie is a mockery of racism and greed. Anyone offended by it doesn't understand satire and is looking for any excuse to be persecuted.

If you think that Blazing Saddles is racist, then the entire point of the movie went sailing over your head. exactly, my cousin married a libtard, this WAS his favorite movie. she forbids him to watch it and says racism and making fun of minorities is not funny. he's a pussy, I would have cued it for an all nighter...i feel sorry for him in a way, his house is 80 degrees in the summer(to save the environment), no paper towels allowed (environment), kids must eat organic fair price crap( to be fair to indigenous workers) etc etc. poor bastard... |

Had some racist moments. So what?
It made fun of everyone and every race. That edginess added to the hilarity. Something we sadly lack in today's feigned over-sensitive world. |

It's racist as hell. The same way Dave Chappelle is racist.
I don't care if you're white, black, brown, yellow, or green, if you don't think it's funny, then there's something seriously wrong with you. |

Other peoples feelings don't matter to me. I don't give a squirt if anyone is offended from Blazing Saddles. You may or may not be offended but my point is: There is NOTHING that says that somebody's feelings can't get hurt. It isn't about other arfcommers 'feelings' and I am not trying to hurt anybody's 'feelings'. I ain't got time fo dat. I just don't care and watch the movie for what it is... ...a funny Mel Brooks movie.... |

The most racist parts are said by the sheriff but he's black so it can't be racist! Like blacks referring to each other as "Hey Ni&&er!" Haven't you learned by now that blacks CAN'T be racist! And that racism only applies to whites! Just ask Eric Holder, Jesse Jackson, the NAACP, or FBHO! |
|
Quoted: Not racist. It addresses and mocks racism by using the language of racism. Having said that, there are many who would not be able to see the distinction. View Quote It assumes the whole time that you are in on the joke. It is a film where the white people are Amos and Andy. And it is funny as hell. |
