He was a good dude. He always said that if someone goes down, be wanted it to be him, rather than his guys.
I remember meeting him very well, our BS about guitar playing and dirt biking.
His family life wasn't great. I remember him talking about his future plans to be with his kid, while driving to the target building where he died. driving back without him was surreal.

I met curtiss just before I left alaska for the 173rd. Lots of new guys flooding in at the time. Got a message after he died because I was working staff duty the day he came in and the guy I was working it with thought it was weird that we were working the day he showed up. Rough times but got bless the paratroopers of the 1-501
