As a Mom of a teenage girl....this, minus the belt (I don't whip my teen anymore, she's old enough to be reasopned with. And phone deprivation works wonders with mine. Take away television, cell phones, taxi service, impose curfews and bedtimes, grounding, whatever she fears most.

If you allow her to capitalize on her biology, you are doing her a disservice. She will think she can get away with it at places like work, and she will never realize her honest potential at dealing with adversity. Supervisors will not view her as promotion-worthy...this will only get worse.Just because she is female doesn't mean she gets to be insane at will. Having a period is no excuse to be a witch and certainly not to one's parents, ever. Unless she has a mental illness diagnosis, you'd better nip this in the bud or have your wife do it.

I don't remember at what point I was in my menstrual cycle, but when I was twenty or so, my father offered me the choice between changing the leaking heater core in my car myself, or paying to have it done.  When I got finished and came back in the house, he just grinned at me and said he'd never heard a woman talk like that before.
