Can't believe I bought mine for $200 way back when. At the time, it was high end because of Russian made.

Please don't let this turn into another SKS best price fuck fest.

I have one that's its twin. 1954r, paid $100 OTD in the early 90's. Shoots pretty good to considering.....

You can get them cheaper, but they won't look that good.
That one costs what it costs for two reasons 1) It's a Tula, these are the top dollar SKSs 2) That's a beautiful stock, it costs more than one with a less attractive stock. I would love, love, love to have one like that in the safe, but I can't justify it when I can build another AR for that kind of dough. And from a practical standpoint, it just is not as good of a gun (detachable mags primarily) |

I don't want it to be a SKS price fuck fest. This one seems really nice and I have no idea if it's close to the going rate or if it can go up to $700. Gotta be better then the piece of shit Egypt AK I got and don't ask what I gave for it.

28 bids with four days to go.
At $500 it is a good deal, but it will probably go higher. Who knows with the retardation on Gunbroker. |

Good looking SKS.
This is not the 90s "I got my SKS for $100", those days are gone. I doubt they will ever come back for being "cheap" weapons. If you like it buy it and have no regrets. Because if you don't bid on it I might. |

He will get that .. I sold my Tula Laminate for almost that years ago.

I paid $495 for an Izzy in similar condition a year ago.
A Tula for this price is good. However, I doubt it will stay at this price. |

I never thought I'd see the day when someone would be able to ask $500 for an SKS and not get shamed publicly.

View Quote I think I paid around $89 for mine. It's Russian made in Tula Arsenal too. It was new, completely covered in cosmoline. The seller also threw in some boxes of Chinese 7.62x39 steel core bullets too. This was back in the early 90's IF that is indeed the going market rate for a Russian SKS then I made a good investment that dramatically out paced inflation. More Gun and Import Bans = Higher prices due to scarcity |

You know what? if you really want it, then its worth whatever you are willing to pay. Fuck what anyone else thinks.

More Gun and Import Bans = Higher prices due to scarcity I should have kept all of the ones I bought in the early 90's. I bought 3 Russian ones (1951, 1952 and 1951 as I recall). With shipping and the hand select fee, they were just under $100 each. Not in my wildest dreams did I ever think they would sell for $600. In fact, I thought I overpaid at $100. 20+ years later I still have the nicest of the three (sold 2 in the late 90's). In all of those years, I never got around to shooting one of the SKS rifles.

As others have said, thats about right moneywise. If I had the money I'd think about it. Worst case you could resell it and get back what you lost, the Russian SKS seem to be holding their value well.

10-20 years? |

It's never an embarrassment to be wrong, if you'll admit when you are. Then again, you could of posted the correct markings to help identify instead of just pointing out the mistake.

I've never had a Russian, several Chinese though. I paid 420 for a NIB Chinese Sks last year. I always wanted one. I wasn't old enough to buy them at $69 but I remember Wynns having a wall full of them.
