I'm under 6 ft with and without shoes, so I've just accepted the fact that I will never get the change tall people hide on top of soda machines for each other.

I can understand how you mortals would have to face this problem of lying about height. At an honest 6'6" I just tell the truth. Of course on ARFCOM I'm only average.

It took several months and built up to several dollars before a fellow tall guy spotted it and helped himself. Or maybe the janitors finally dusted the top of the coke machine... |

I've always said I'm 5'-10" so I ran right in, used a square, removed my shoes, and measured myself. Exactly 5'-10 1/8" so I've not been lying. IIRC the article said something like 98% of people add an inch to their height, so I missed the glorious 1% by this much ><.
I don't bother lying about my weight either--192# currently.

It's kind of rough when I say I'm an honest 6'6" after the guy says he's 6'7" or 6'8" although clearly a bit shorter than me. I look at my height the way I look at my dog. It's bigger than darn near anything else you'll see in a given day so why inflate it?
