me shoot gun today but maybe not work right? Fuck Obama. So I broke out some of my stash of ammo and finally shot my Bud's Bargain Basement Blasters. I put a clip (ha clip clip clip! there I said it!) of old USA white box jhp through my RIA 1911 "Tactical", some other brass cased jhp, forget the brand, and about 70 rounds of Wolf. One round of wolf had a failure to extract. The extractor doohickey looked like it slipped off the rim. meh I have not shot in awhile, it seemed accurate enough based on how I was shooting The flat black metal sights aren't that great. For some reason I shot better once I got out into the daylight v shooting from the covered bench area for some reason. It seemed pretty accurate with the wolf, I think i was pulling the other earlier shots just due to being rusty. I actually shot it a little better than the new Glock 19 I shot a little bit just to make sure it worked (NY is probably going to pass a microstamping law so the time to buy spare handguns is now, yeah I know, I should move or steal a tank and attack Albany) I also shot my kinda scary looking RIA .38, just 6 rounds of hornady +p (okay for "occaisional use") seemed okay just can't find a &^$ing holster for it. It did not explode. I am unsure of the accuracy as I turned my face away and put my hand against the side of my head when firing it. I also picked up a ruger 22/45 before the 7 round thing went away (at least temporarily) thinking it would be good practice for shooting 1911s, not sure that it is. The magazines do not fall out because my hand presses against the rear of the base of the magazine. I don't think you could practice anything involving the magazine with it. The bottom feels like a kinda cheap plastic toy 1911 but it shot okay. I had one round that fired and nothing, didn't see the action work. I ejected the round and it was fired and seemed normal. Not a big deal but odd. It was federal bulk ammo I then went to Wal Mart to look for ammo, something I had not done since I found the internet, but now internet sales of ammo are illegal to NY I recognized the guy as being someone from the gun club, but who did not remember me (just as well but that's another story). He said they do not even have a space for .22lr on the shelf and acted like he thought I was going to pick a fight with him. I guess a bunch of people have accused him of being in on some conspiracy and have demanded to see the manager. He actually bitched about neckbeards . He didn't say that but he went on about guys he knows in their 50s and 60s who are in there always trying to scam up .22lr when they have 10-20k rounds at home "more than those guys will ever shoot, and not one of those bastards belongs to SCOPE or the NRA" he went on for a while (great guy) They did have 1000 round cases of some kind of turkish 223 for like 450 but I have to admit I was shocked to see a case of 223 on the shelf. There was no JHP but a fair amount of regular ball ammo, not sure they stock much JHP even when there is ammo available. Oh I think some of the parkerizing is coming off the grip safety on the 1911, but whatever it was $ 350 at least they didn't leave the barrel in the white like the .38 that I ended up using Krylon on (bet that works) |

If it goes 'bang' every time (one FTE of wolf doesn't count), and shoots reasonably accurate (sounds like it did)... sounds like a great score

RIA may not have the 'bling' of the high-end safe queens out there, but I've heard nothing but positive things about them. Congrats on getting out to toss some lead I haven't been out for waaaaay too long |

No, it was just kind of hard to follow with all the asides, then again I do that when I'm actually talking to people too. Just confused the hell out of me, which I should actually be used to by now. |

Rock Island Armory?
I have one that runs just fine. Of course, I changed out all of the FCG. I changed the sights and the stocks. Really, even a WWII Colt, (like the one my mother carried in her purse in Paris), would be just fine. For us old guys, (and penguins), the sights are the worst thing. Some guys complain about the grip safety. Pussies. |

I' ll paraphrase for the tl;dr crowd. " I bought guns from a country where they still cook missionaries in big pots and shrink their heads and I'm not happy with it." |
