Sutter really jumped the shark after the third season. It got way too Hollywood for me, not a real biker gang show.

I started re-watching The Shield from the beginning last week.

I've come to the conclusion that Sutter has always been a faggot douche, and is basically a waste of air.  The only reason that he couldn't fuck up The Shield the same way he fucked up SOA is that he simply didn't have the power.

He belongs back in the writers room, with someone above him telling him what to do and unfucking every stupid thing he does, and other writers to unfuck him when he gets retarded.

Giving him any kind of director or producer control leads to... well, we all saw what happened.

LOL!!!
I was gonna post something similar.
I am NOT a stick in the mud traditionalist, but the V-Rod really did jump the shark. It was obvious that they were trying too hard.

Harleys OWN the dirt tracks, and HD has yet to capitolize on the styling effectively, and dammit, the motor advancements have been wasted on 900lb chrome collections.
A Jay Springer commemorative XR would be awesome!!! But noooo...

Yeah, with a Torch, grinder, and some talent maybe.

For Gawdsake, that thing would have flown out the doors, compared to the howls and insults that greeted the old V-Rod.

go to a dealer and look at one up close and you will get what I'm saying.

all in all though if I was a new rider or wanted a city commuter type bike id definitely get one.

Made in India, the ones sold in the US are assembled in USA from "internationally" sourced parts.  Most of the rest of the world the bikes are assembled where the majority of the parts are made, in India.

http://rideapart.com/articles/where-are-harley-davidson-street-750-500-made
Harley is open about the fact that Street 750 and 500 models destined for India, Portugal, Italy and Spain will be made in that same Indian factory. And we do mean “made,” not “assembled.” The bikes will be manufactured at that facility, including the new “Revolution X” motor and its six-speed transmission.

However, Harley says that all U.S.-market Street 750 and 500s will be “made” at its plant in Kansas City, Missouri. As with all bikes, many of the components will be sourced from around the world. What’s not clear is how much of the bikes will actually be “made” there.

Back around 03' I got an informal tour of the Ducati factory with an Engineer friend of a friend.
People would shit bricks if they knew where Ducati ships components to. It was even more entertaining next door at Ducati electronica...
What was striking, was the number of outsourced components Ducati uses instead of thier own, from in house and right next door.
Sometimes, somebody else does things better or cheaper, or they have a copyright, or some other agreement.

Harley is no different.
I still giggle a little at the Magnetti Marelli injection though.

That's unfortunate. I'm not a Harley guy in the least but I do root for the home team. I also have no brand loyalty. So I'd love it if Harley built a bike I'd want to own. Of course that might mean sacrificing a bit too much of their image. And I suppose it would be blasphemous to say that there should be an ABS option.

It's not the color.  It's the styling.

Lots of SOA riders are shown on bikes with batwings or whatever, but bikes styled as shown below are very heavily featured in the show.  It's somewhat distinctive, to people who pay attention to such things.

I thought about getting a Dyna or softail and buying an easily detachable windshield and some bags. Honestly I wouldn't use them much. Would save some serious cash too.

I'm afraid of that.

This is more my style, just a little too blacked out, a little chrome here and there and it would be pretty close to what I'd want.

I hated apes until I bought a bike that had them, I planned to change them but after one ride I fell in love, extremely comfortable to me.

I believe this is the case.  The Street 750 engine appears to be slated to replace the venerable XR750 engine (highly modified Sportster based engine) which is starting to fall behind Kawasaki in wins on AMA flat track.  I would guess the 500 could be used in a different class, but not sure if there is a class for a 2 cylinder 500, unless its outside of flat track.

Harley has tried at various times in their history to offer intro-type bikes. Smart move on their part. The demographics are mainly 45+ years of age. Making a quality, affordable product that may attract younger riders makes sense to me. More American jobs makes sense to me. Why the hating?
