That and you don't want to make a lot of noise walking through the bush. Reason why a lot of the FN's and other weapons were painted was from briefings from captured terrorists that the metal on the rifles was reflecting so they could see them before the Rhodies could see the terrorists.

My BIL who goes to Africa every year to hunt told me that the guides wear shorts to teach them to avoid the nasty plants and such. It seems to work. They move more quietly because they really don't want to touch the nasty plants and thorns. |

I must admit that I misread the initial caption and thought it said "from the New Rhodesia forum." I must admit that I was excited at the thought that like minded individuals were carving out a New Rhodesia similar to the old one where hard working, honest and God-fearing people were able to live amongst others who valued the same.
