Horseshit...More than a Feeling is awesome. This thread has caused me to him this song to myself at first mention of the band. Tom Scholtz needs to be beaten with a baseball bat. |

The problem is, radio stations play the same handful of songs over and over, while the really good tunes never see the light of day.
Case in point: Another Brick in the Wall part 2. I like Pink Floyd, but that crappy POS song gets more airplay than anything they've ever done. |

Def Leppard. Brian Johnson fronted AC/DC.

Overplayed?
Zeppelin, Floyd, et al, were not staples of radio airplay back in their day. I can't tell you the last time I heard Dark Side of the Moon played over the radio. If your favorite "classic rock" station is overplaying the song, then maybe you should take it up with them? Wait a minute. What station is this? There's a chance I can get it down here. Meanwhile ... I've got a bike, You can ride it if you like, It's got a basket, a bell that rings, and things that make it look good... Not that I particularly like that song, but a coworker and I spontaneously burst out in song with the above lyrics, and gathered some rather perplexed looks from our other coworkers. |

Clear channel radio is to blame for this... somewhat.
I still like Zeppelin and Floyd, but I can do without AC/DC, Van Halegar, Def, etc. |
|
well,,,maybe,,,,if there was some new bands say in the last 15 years that where worth listening to we wouldn't have to listen to solid gold rock and roll repeated over and over

Def Leppard... Holy fucking shit... Foolin' is the most fucking overplayed song of the late 1980s to early 1990s. F-f-f-f-FUCK OFF DEF LEPPARD!!!!!!!! View Quote I disagree with most of the others mentioned in this thread, but this sir, is dead on. They sucked in the 80's, and they still suck today. I can't believe they still play this outdated drivel. |

If a classic rock station played b-sides only they would probably dominate the market in less than a week. Zeppelin for example, has some pure genius shit that has probably never been on the radio.

Agree with OP. Whenever a Pink Floyd song comes on the local radio station, off to the ipod library I go.

I hate the rolling stones. They sucked 50 years ago, they sucked 25 years ago and they still suck in 2014. I am sick of hearing them on the radio.

Pink Floyd always just seems to be depressing to me.
When I listen to music I want to be elevated. |

I think it's officially time to permanently retire ALL songs by the Rolling Stones. I've probably heard each of their songs 5,000 times (I'm in my mid-50's). Time to say goodnight.

View Quote The b-side. Now, there's something that's lost in today's world. Some of my favorite songs are b-sides that never appeared on an album until years after a band's heyday. Don't know about dominating markets, but I do know what music I like. |

Well, woke up this morning with a wine glass in my hand.
Whose wine? What wine? Where the hell did I dine? Must have been a dream I don't believe where I've been. Come on, let's do it again. Do you...you, feel like I do? View Quote No I don't, I like all of those bands. We do not have a station around here that plays the same shit over and over and if I don't like what I'm hearing I change channels. Unlike here bitching at the radio solves nothing. Wait, it solves nothing here either. |

I hate rush.
ETA... I'm going to fill my ignore list with the floyd haters. |

I think classic rock radio is long overdue for a shake up.
First it was hits, then it was B sides with a few deep album cuts thrown in. They need to go to an all deep album cut format. No more "Whole Lotta Love" or "Communication Breakdown". Side two of "Physical Graffiti". Or, it could go away altogether and the world would be a better place "I'm sorry, Sir. We can't play anything produced before 1990. Why don't you go home and listen to your 8 tracks Pops". |

I'd like Eric Clapton a bit more if they played stuff other than:
-Layla -Wonderful Tonight. |

you must have never listened to their other albums
Obscured By Clouds and Meddle are much more enjoyable and get ZERO radio time. |

I'm with you on boston, cant stand them anymore.
Don't mind Floyd |

Anything by Deep Purple. Aqualung by Jethro Tull; that includes Locomotive Breath.

Try and not blame the bands, it isn't their fault they are overplayed. View Quote /this If you listen to a "Jack" format understand you're listening to a rotation of about 100 songs - figure four minutes each and you're going to hear repeats of 20-40 year old songs in the same day. If you listen to a week's worth you're going to hear the same 100 songs six times during that week. It's the very nature of "Jack". |

Pink Floyd is depressing. It's music to kill yourself to. View Quote Syd Barrett's finest lyrics..... An Effervescing Elephant with tiny eyes and great big trunk once whispered to the tiny ear the ear of one inferior that by next June he'd die, oh yeah! because the tiger would roam. The little one said: "Oh my goodness I must stay at home! and every time I hear a growl I'll know the tiger's on the prowl and I'll be really safe, you know the elephant he told me so." Everyone was nervy, oh yeah! and the message was spread to zebra, mongoose, and the dirty hippopotamus who wallowed in the mud and chewed his spicy hippo-plankton food and tended to ignore the word preferring to survey a herd of stupid water bison, oh yeah! And all the jungle took fright, and ran around for all the day and the night but all in vain, because, you see, the tiger came and said: "Who me?! You know, I wouldn't hurt not one of you. I'd much prefer something to chew and you're all to scant." oh yeah! He ate the Elephant |

Listen to an album besides Dark Side of the Moon. That's probably my least favorite one.
Boston is terrible though. |
