I like many have several rifles. If SHTF and you could only carry one rifle and ammo into the bush what would it be ? Would you go with the more accurate AR or durable AK ? Go !!

Maybe we should examine why we are going into the bush first. I plan to stay home and enjoy my canned foods and whatnot.

Most definately my RRA CAR15. I would probably carry .308 ammo with it cause it's better, right?

I like to think I run my AR better than my AK soooooo I would prolly say the AR.
I have more "parts" in case the rifle goes down for the AR as well. |

A rifle in 5.56 NATO would be your best choice, as the cops & military use them, so in a protracted SHTF/TEOTWAWKI re supply of 5.56 would be theoretically easier. If you have a Galil, AR, AK, FN, Mini14 or whatever in 5.56, that would be the better option.
Guns are tools, & like any tool, no one gun does every job, so you compromise for whatever suits your need & perceived "job." If you take any rifle--take spare parts (I'm a Glock & AR armorer--so my choice is obvious) and hope for the best. I would encourage you to get training in maintaining/servicing your guns. Just my $0.02--but you asked. |

You said, "into the bush". The bush here includes bears. I don't want to be near bears with a .223. So I would take a Garand. |

AKs are for unpatriotic commies.
ARs are blessed by The Lord Eugene. |
