I live in a decent area. However over the past 3 years people have been moving in that like to have shit in their lawns paint their house black( yes, fucking black) old best up cars in the front and renters.....renters who just don't give a shit. Anyway, my next door neighbor died a year ago from live failure (poor man drank a lot) and the family left the house and it foreclosed. It's been sitting haven't for the past year and 2 days ago some Home Depot fence installers showed up and ripped out the old 20+ year old fence all round the neighbors house and the fence line we share.
I talk to the guys and they say," Home Depot is donating a brand new fence for a family." I was like, awwww fuck! Another section 8 or Habitat for Humanity is moving in next door! I immediately got visions of all the stories I've read on GD and the Section 8 mess they received, the North Memphis article from the Atlantic showing a direct correlation between the crime rate and section 8 rentals and the ghetto goblins sitting out on my cars and messing up my yard. We're going to have to move. About 3 other homes in the area put up for sale signs a few months ago, interestingly all of the older white families. I'm not a racist, I respect anybody who works hard and takes care of their homes. Our neighbors behind me are white trash. Every race has trash. Why do they have to live by me? Anyway, I notice a realtor sign in the window and i call it waiting for the liberal realtor to say, "the home next to you was donated by the bank (as a write off) to some poor woman who has struggled (with 7 kids, different fathers, 5 are in jail) to put her life back together. Instead, I get, "The bank donated the home to the Veterans Association." Well, now I don't feel so bad. I don't know when he or a family will move in, I'll update it when I do. I don't feel as bad now, hope he is a good guy. Could use a few more around here. [UPDATE] 9/25/14 Family finally moved in. He's a Marine who was hit by an IED back in '05. Haven't met him yet but seems like a good guy. News story here, my house is next to it with the xterra. News story here |

What makes you think the next neighbor won't be full on FSA vet on Section 8?

I story with a plot twist. I like it.
I'll bet that the veteran that moves in next to you will be blind the whole time. |

Nicest older lady next door passed away last month. Her son was over cleaning up, we got to talkin fishing, and he said , I would never sell to trashy people.
Im very happy! |

The family next door sold and moved out right after I bought my place. Maybe I'm the riff-raff.
Indian couple that lives there now does nothing but shout at each other, slam drawers and let the bass bleed through my walls. But they drive BMW's, so they probably still think I'm the riff-raff. |

I cant stand neighbors and have lived where the FSA, section 8 mingle, never again.
I also lived in an HOA for 3 years, never again. Rural acreage FTW!!!!! I have a gravel road in front of my house, very little traffic except for some local farmers checking on their cattle. Rarely does anyone stop by but if I want to ensure I am left alone I close the gate at my drive and lock it. I have no idea how you guys can live in cities or the burbs. Half the time I piss outside instead of walking back in the house, I wouldn't do well where I had neighbors. |

Explain how a vet earns access to Section 8 money. That program is straight up, plain old welfare. Money passed out with no requirements to reimburse the taxpayer. Pure communist practice, skips right on past socialism. There are millions of vets on the streets. That means they have an obligation to society to become productive and self supporting, just like every other citizen. The FSA adherents don't get a pass, especially when there are millions that don't suck at that tit or advocate the handout. A service member signs a check that can be cashed in for his life - while he's on active duty. After that time, he returns to life as a civilian deserving no more particular consideration than any other civilian citizen. Hopefully he'll be a model patriotic citizen that sets a good example. |

House next door sat vacant for a quite a while. Dreaded the prospect of potentially shitty neighbors.
A family from Ghana moved in recently. Nice folks. |

Section 8 ha. Try having a convicted child molester move in. Although the fence situation was a blast lol

You are not poor by and stretch. You MAY be scratching your ass financially, but you are not poor. There is one hell of a difference. Poor people are people with poor ways. You seem to have rich ways. You can't buy a wife and mother like yours. That in itself is priceless. Sometimes I think people put too much stock in money and not enough in character. |

I live far enough away from my neighbors that it's not a big deal.
But one neighbor is a preacher and he'll likely stay in his house forever. The other neighbor is has been there for 20 years and I doubt he's moving either. I bet I'm the one they worry about. I'm young enough to still up and move and who knows if I'd fuck my neighbors over by renting it out? |

good point, My great aunt had a saying, you can be poor and not have much in material wealth but there is no reason for living in filth. There is a difference between being poor and being trash.
She worked decades at the same job, working hard and saving. Retired, traveled while she was able and then settled in when traveling was too much for her years. In many ways she was a smart woman and she kept a spotless home into her 70's. Your OP story reminds me of the neighbor who never stopped talking about being a Marine. He was a drunk, used cocaine, meth, sold his pain killers. Typical cars not running in the yard and he or his son would "tune them up" and rev them up for hours. Always was looking to borrow tools or money or needed a ride. (8 DWI's) He was trash and I'm sure he was trash before being in the service, He got divorced with much drama and patrol car traffic and rented his place out section 8. Next occupant, also a vet, was an alleged pill dealer as well and also got frequent drama interventions from the police. House ended up going for back taxes and a young pair of married service members moved. They were the first decent folks that lived there. Veteran status only guarantees that you have someone from nearly anywhere in the cross section of America. |

Everybody in my little neck of the woods is all up in arms right now that the neighborhood ranch sold. It is being subdivided into 5 1/2 acre+ lots. Judging by the recent new builds in our area, the houses built on those lots will be $1,000,000+ All the neighbors are worried about new folks moving in. Me, I am gonna try to bid some of the construction. They see problems, I see MONEY! |
