The three Ali-Frazier fights are timeless classics, IMO. Boxing at its finest.

The Thrilla In Manila might be the greatest heavyweight fight ever.

I've read where Ali said it was the closest to death he'd ever been and he did not want to fight Frazier again after that.

How much would any of us pay to see Ali, Frazier, Foreman... in their prime go up against Tyson in his prime?

I think Frazier / Tyson would be a great fight.  So similar in size and style.

Fuck him!
Politics had to have someone working the grinder. He did it.
Great ploy to get things stirred up.
You mean to tell me there was no other boxer in the world who couldnt beat him???
Fuck that!!! There were guys in his own gym that could wear him out.
He could just talk that shit, and what a great way to get votes.

Neither Ali, Frasier, or Foreman could hang more than a few rounds with Tyson in his prime.  That guy was a fucking monster.

Not a fair comparison if you know anything about boxing. Ali, a great stylist. A true boxer if there ever was such a thing. Tyson, brute force. The quintessential fighter, hardly any leg work. I saw Ali late, Tyson was the last big ticket pay per view exciting heavyweight fighter. Boxing will never be the same again.

Loud mouth piece of filth who refused to fight for his country, tossed his American medals, and made a living in professional entertainment.

Even in the ring, he was a foul mouthed piece of garbage.     Too bad no one ever got into his head and sent him off the  deep end.    Then again, that would have been super easy and everyone had more class than that low life.

Cassius Clay, unfortunately, I do remember that obnoxious jerk all too well.   They have a clown theme museum  and a street named in his honor in downtown Louisville.

Some like him.   Some even love him.   I know him to be filth and like nothing about him... yet.    One day, there will be something I will like.

Ali exercised his constitutional rights as an American.

I liked him then and now.

Ali was the last of the great heavyweights.  Boxing has turned into a more respectable version of pro wrestling since then.

He was a jackass. And a fantastic self-promoter.

And also a great fighter.

If it makes you feel any better he's been spending the past 20 years of his life drooling and shaking uncontrollably.

Say what you want about him outside the ring, inside the ring he was awesome.

He was the greatest heavyweight of all time.

Greatest boxer, pound for pound ever, was Ray Robinson.

...and the guy was an excellent boxer. His skill was the result of both nature and nurture. He studied the sweet science.
