Pictures don't do it justice. You must experience the wind, -20F+ winters, and the smoke from the summer forest fires to really know that it isn't for you. Same goes for Montana, just come in the early summer and spend your money then leave. Does anybody speak English? Actually what I really wanna know is how often do you hear mandarin? In Jackson you hear plenty of Mandarin from the tourists. Here the tourists speak English and the most of the residents speak mandarin........ |

loneliest I have EVER felt in my life was driving across Wyoming. Lonely nearly to tears.. Try Kansas. You have got to be shitting me. Have you even been to WY? KS has nothing, I mean to tell you, NOTHING on the desolation that is WY. KS... What... Maybe 40-50 miles between fuel stations? Try going on some WY roads sometime. 40 miles between "ranch access only" and double that or more between some fuel. |

Hey, Gillettes starkness has a beauty all it's own.
Until one of the mines overloads its cast shots and knocks the pictures off the wall. While it was 100 degrees yesterday, it's 57 right now at 2:50 AM. The winters in my 2 1/2 years of living have been alright, only had 1 week of the OH HELL NO! type of cold. We have a couple of herds of antelope and mule deer in the area that wander around our house...which is pretty cool. It's a unique place with a beauty all it's own, but not for pansies. Quoted:
Gillette is the reality, Cody and Jackson are the postcards. Evanston, Pinedale, Casper, it's all the same. Subdivisions so new they don't have a bush. Hell on earth and no mistake. View Quote View All Quotes View All Quotes Quoted:

I remarked to an old timer in his store in Cody about how pretty it was in Wyoming. He said "Yeah, it's pretty damn hot in the summer, pretty damn cold in the winter, and pretty damn hard to make a living here." I've been all through Wyoming and there's a lot of lonely, desolate areas. Andrasiks's right, we ain't got no mountains here......but we got trees.

When I was a boy, I wanted to become a WY cattle rancher and even made a scrap book for a school project. One of the first trips through there (we were kids) we spent a day at Rushmore and then drove into WY and were looking for a place to camp. I remember my Dad running back to the car after talking to some other people by this lake and when he got into the car he brought in a swarm of misquitoes with him. There were black clouds of them around the car! I think we slept in the car that night.
Still one of the prettiest places in the world. |

I'm sure it's great! You can probably get a small ranch for whatever your house in Georgia is worth. Unlike Montana and it's overinflated prices. You need roughly 1,000 acres in WY to support a single cow. I just need a decent paying IT/networking job. And no urban yutes. Folks from outside Wyoming ought to read about the emmigration from Wyoming in the late 1800's and first decade or so of the 1900's. The main means of making a living are different now, but the climate ain't. |

Both of them lived in Grand Junction or Montrose after living in Missouri for a couple of decades, then back to Wyoming. |
