Pictures don't do it justice. You must experience the wind, -20F+ winters, and the smoke from the summer forest fires to really know that it isn't for you.

Same goes for Montana, just come in the early summer and spend your money then leave.

Does anybody speak English?

Actually what I really wanna know is how often do you hear mandarin?

In Jackson you hear plenty of Mandarin from the tourists.

Here the tourists speak English and the most of the  residents speak mandarin........

Try Kansas.

You have got to be shitting me.

Have you even been to WY?  KS has nothing, I mean to tell you, NOTHING on the desolation that is WY.

KS... What... Maybe 40-50 miles between fuel stations?

Try going on some WY roads sometime. 40 miles between "ranch access only" and double that or more between some fuel.

Hey, Gillettes starkness has a beauty all it's own.
Until one of the mines overloads its cast shots and knocks the pictures off the wall.

While it was 100 degrees yesterday, it's 57 right now at 2:50 AM.
The winters in my 2 1/2 years of living have been alright, only had 1 week of the OH HELL NO! type of cold.

We have a couple of herds of antelope and mule deer in the area that wander around our house...which is pretty cool.
It's a unique place with a beauty all it's own,  but not for pansies.

I could pull off the highway to streach my legs and not see another car for 1/2 hr and no noise except the wind through the sagebrush. I love it here and after being raised in So Cal then moving around for 20 years in the AF, I finally found where I belong. If you are the type that can hack it here WITHOUT trying to change it...we welcome you.

Not Gilletter, Wamsutter is the place where it's at.
View Quote

F'ing A right...it's beautiful. Was just there a few hours ago. Left Cheyenne and drove down to Denver to get a load of diesel, back up to Wyoming and over to Wamsutter. Too bad I was only there for about 30mins making my delivery, it's such a hopping place where you just want to hang out for hours. . Took a load over Wednesday, last night, and will more then likely have one tonight and Saturday. I usually run Wamsutter a few days each week.

Heading to the store in winter

A little 700yd range time at the Otto Road range west of Cheyenne.

Few semis taking a breather between Cheyenne and Laramie (I check the WYDOT page every 15 mins during the winter. It can make the difference of being stuck on top of Elk Mountain, or being nice and cozy in my warm bed back in Cheyenne)

Nice snow storm rolled through in May. Was glad I didn't have to work those days. Wouldn't have mattered...I-25 and I-80 were both shut down for most of my two days off. The guys who were working were doing a couple local loads and calling it good. No trucks were moving so the Cheyenne store was not selling any fuel. Birds were like "WTF, where'd the sun go"

Oh, and like another poster said earlier in the thread; the four seasons of Wyoming...Almost winter, winter, still winter, and road repair season. The dang road repair season is in full effect in the SE corner of the state. Half of the 50 miles between Cheyenne and Laramie is torn up and down to one lane. Then the other side of Laramie is torn up for about 12 miles. Let's not even get into the construction down in Colorado on I-25 between 9pm and 4am. Combine road construction and dumb ass Colorado drivers and you have very long delays because they don't know what "Right Lane Ends, Merge Left" means. To them it must mean haul ass up to the merge cones, then get all pissed off and try to force your way in and make everybody who merged a half mile back slow up to let your dumbass in.

When I was a boy, I wanted to become a WY cattle rancher and even made a scrap book for a school project. One of the first trips through there (we were kids) we spent a day at Rushmore and then drove into WY and were looking for a place to camp.  I remember my Dad running back to the car after talking to some other people by this lake and when he got into the car he brought in a swarm of misquitoes with him. There were black clouds of them around the car!  I think we slept in the car that night.

Still one of the prettiest places in the world.
