Cool, maybe they'll waste a shitload of money fighting insurgencies against people who hate them even more than you do.

I don't care much for Russia, so It'd be cool to see them bankrupt themselves again.

We have our own problems, but I guess it's okay to neglect our own country and waste lives fighting for European socialists.

Just kidding, John McCain and Lindsey Graham said it is our problem. Apparently Ukraine is somehow America's front porch.

Yeah, we're in shitloads of debt and have hordes of illegal immigrants running all over our border and collecting welfare, but
it's important for us to dig ourselves even deeper in debt so we can protect the borders of Ukraine.

Georgia, Ukraine, might as well let them have Poland too. Where do we start caring? Budapest? Prague? Berlin? Paris? London? Or do we just let Europe get over run by the Russkies and not care until they head for Alaska or Washington DC?

I agree that we should not get involved. Why start another war that only the military wants victory?
The American people caved to the Iraqis Afghans and I see no reason they wouldn't cave when faced with the iron will of the Russian people.

Oh yeah. No way we could secure our southern border AND honor our defense treaties. No way we could arm the Ukrainians AND cut welfare spending.

Oh, are you under the delusion that anyone in government wants to secure the border or cut welfare spending?

So yeah, let's let the goddamn Russians role through Europe, kill thousands and thousands of people, while making a mockery of our ability to enforce out alliances and establish themselves as the lone super power while we cower under the weight of debt incurred by Obamaphones and Cash for Clunkers.

The same Europeans who believe America is the greatest threat to world peace that exists?  Yeah, not really feeling too concerned about their well-being.  The same Europeans who SWOONED over Obama?  How ironic that their hero would turn his back on them.

I'm not sure I understand why everyone is so fearful of nations with senseless economic policies. They can only do so much before they putter out and exhaust themselves economically.

If we continue to waste money on welfare and foreign nonsense like this, we'll find that out as well.

Intervening isn't really practical, but I'd like to point out that we did promise to defend them in precisely this circumstance in exchange for their nuclear disarmament.

Ukraine's mistake was in trusting us.   The US's word is no longer worth jack shit, and now they're going to pay for that decision.

A lot of our allies have already learned the hard way, and more will continue to learn - we elect weasels and cowards, because that's precisely what a majority of Americans are these days.

In related news, the Ukrainian government collapsed today, when two parties withdrew from the coalition. New parliamentary elections have to be held immediately. It's hard to see how these can be carried out in the eastern part of the country, with the fighting going on.

What's with all the Berlin / Paris / London hyperbole? Russia isn't really threatening anyone but Ukraine, and probably only the eastern portion of that. Sorry Ukraine, you got dealt a shitty hand with that neighbor of yours. I've got to catch up on "Falling Skies" now. Good luck wrestling that bear, I'll be back by later to check in and see how it went.

IOW: the fate of eastern Ukraine doesn't get me particularly animated.

I can't believe the short memories you people have.

So you would turn your back on decades old alliances, sacrifice innocent lives and let the Russian Bear get away with murder, contrary to our national security and economic interests because of a public opinion poll and a couple rallies in Germany?

We get the world we deserve, and when our inaction gets the Russkies confident enough to cross a line we actually do enforce, we get WWIII.

These countries wanted Obama, because they knew he'd make America WEAK.   Well, if you want America weak, you'd better learn to protect yourselves.  These countries wanted to see us knocked down a couple pegs, so I'm having a hard time worrying if Putin's boot is on their neck.

Oh yeah. No way we could secure our southern border AND honor our defense treaties. No way we could arm the Ukrainians AND cut welfare spending.

Oh, are you under the delusion that anyone in government wants to secure the border or cut welfare spending?

That is a good point

Would have been avoided if Obama wasn't a pussy and had deployed assets to Ukraine to "secure crash area".

Snort

So you think the Russkies will just take Ukraine and let that be the end of it?

France might get nukey, but other than that who is actually going to do anything if pressured? What Balkan country is going to pull an armored division with air support out of it's ass if it's invaded? Not a single one. Russia can roll on any country in the region East of Germany with the possible exceptions of Finland and Poland.

Poland can lay a BIG ass whoopin on if needs be.

A Pole was asked if he had to shoot a German and a Russian, whom would he shoot first, The reply: 'Naturally the German!'

"Why?"

'Because duty comes first, then pleasure.'

In related news, the Ukrainian government collapsed today, when two parties withdrew from the coalition. New parliamentary elections have to be held immediately. It's hard to see how these can be carried out in the eastern part of the country, with the fighting going on.

Prediction is the Pro-West parties will pull more votes and ultimately wipe out any power of the Communist/Russian leaning parties, the first time since independence.  The Russians not allowing these Eastern Ukrainians to vote only hurts their cause and this Russian invasion pisses off more of the Ukrainian population that were on the fence.  In the end, the population will bow to whoever will take care of them.

We've now crossed into the time where the promise of financial security outweighs the threat of the gun.  Unfortunately, Putin learned from his mistake of financing a country full of squatters so now he's had to resort to old tactics.  Ukrainians are accustomed to taking cold showers so the threat of turning off the gas isn't going to have the affect on them that it would in the rest of Western Europe.

Obama is giving a speech in Ca right now about how companies are leaving Ca to escape their share of the heavy tax burden. Basically ragging on companies for not wanting to stay to pay.

It will be fixed when he issues Directive 10-289.

It's a shame that foreigners put any faith in our treaties and agreements after we outright defaulted and abandoned the Bretton Woods agreement.

That sucks.

Good thing this isn't our problem.

Stuff like honor and integrity are not biggies to Progressives.

Much less the peace at all cost brigade.

We should never have been a part of that. It Brought about the IMF.

Not yet.  But if it spills into neighboring countries who are our NATO allies, then, by force of agreement, it is our issue and all hell breaks loose.

I mean look at the determination on this guy.
