so many strawmen, gunshop myths, and opinions when faced with actual tests people have done.
i mean come on, at least say 'i could use slugs instead' or some other legitimate argument but damn. so, for shits and giggles, who uses what? |

7.62x39mm 123 gr softpoints or 5.56mm 55grain TAP. Outdoors it's 7.62x39 Yugo or M193 or M855.

I like to see what could compete against a 12 gauge, 330 grain slug traveling at a velocity of 1900 fps with an Energy load of 2600 foot pounds.

Poll fail, you need a multiple choice.
Downstairs is an 870P, upstairs in the bedroom a carbine. |

Shotgun with a rifled slug barrel?
Truthfully, I go the Arfcom way, have both ready (14.5" carbine and a 20ga 870 with #4 buck...) standing ready. So I guess it depends on what mood I'm in. |

More holes are better than one. I don't care how big. I voted my rifle. |

What do you call it when you mix slugs and buck? That's a fun one.

Unbeatable.

There's a rifle, pistol and shotgun all within easy reach of my bed.
If anything ever goes bump in the night, I'm going to grab the pistol. If the pistol wasn't an option, the next up would be the rifle. I've had to grab the shotgun on two separate occasions and I really wouldn't feel too bad with it either. Better than a golf club or baseball bat. |

Its always fun arguing carbine vs shotgun View Quote If the argument got out of hand . . . . . . . . . I'd want the carbine. |

I'll say pillows.
But, if those don't work I usually have a Glock 17 w/ Surefire X300 and 18 rounds of 135gr +P Hornady Critical Duty at my bedside. If I'm feeling a little froggy I'll grab for my 14.5" AR with 30 rounds of 5.56 62gr JSP Hornady TAP. Fuck that shotgun nonsense. |

How many are hitting something vital? I'll take 3 or 4 well aimed 5.56 JSP rounds COM over one round of #4 buck any day of the week. |
